| I've flown the 401, 601, 611, and the 6100T. There is a different feel with the 6100T, but it's not a bad thing. I would recommend a 6100T to anyone trying to get a great budget set up.
The 401 is a great gyro, but in backwards flight it does get noisy. It usually holds great though. It does drift in stationary flips, and will not hold a consistent piroette rate in many manuvers however.
Here's the thing, if you're going to buy the cheaper option now, then sooner or later, you're going to end up with the better gyro anyway. If you buy cheap you buy twice. If you buy a better gyro now before you need it, you won't buy two. Make sense?
