Here is the best solution i can think of to solve the one way bearing problem:

First start with a better bearing ( Sprague ):

Make it to fit the current main gear:

Compare to the stock part:

After the installation to the current main gear:

Very nice. Was this just a drop in bearing replacement? Did you machine a new hub? How bout a part number and location for the bearing.

I was hoping someone would do this, a few bucks extra... but no more issues. I'm down all day long. Well done.

It is a New Hub

The problem we have now is that the align's design is wrong.

For a proper one way bearing design, the bearing is not suppose to be working along.

It is required to have either two bushing or two bearing on the top and bottom to support the rotation.

The actual One way bearing suppose only do the one way job.

So what i did is, that the one way bearing is high quality with one side ball bearing assist. the stock One way bearing only handle up to 13N.m torque, the one i am using handles 18.5N.m torque.

Also, i used another ball- bearing on the other side of the one way bearing to handle the rotation force.

So there is one new hub and one way bearing and one ball bearing + new designed sleave insert to replace the entire stock units.

All i need to do is to mount the stock gear on it...

I am thinking about a mass production on this unit, including everything it costs around $20

If anyone is interested in it, send me an email eliseer at hotmail dot com

Okay so you put the stock sleeve inside the sprague bearing you showed.
What stops the sleeve from rotating inside the sprague since the sprague has its own inside wall?

I machine the inside sleeve too, so it is like a whole package

Now for the acid test! Have you performed any test flights?
If you would like I would be willing to volunteer and put a few test flights in this weekend, and i'll report to you how it holds up. Have about a dozen people at my field that are having one-way issues. I think they would be interested in this new design if it works.

How does this new bearing here grab the main shaft as I see no means. Looks like a smooth inner bore.

No you ring your LHS tell them about your issue and if they are of any good they will contact their supplier and its sorted, I guess you got yours from ebay My is covered by warranty, all I have to do is send my faulty part in with a copy of the reciept and I am done. This in the UK, might be different in your part of the world as we have a little thing called fit for purpose and if it aint we get a replacement that is or our money back. (trading standards)

Any how my supplier has said that it is due to the bearing shaft being slightly undersized and this has now been recogized as a fault and the tolerance has been tighten up on the new upgraded parts.

I would agree with eliseer that the sprague clutch should be supported on either side by some type of a bearing to have a better fighting chance....

Below is a pic of the Pegae starting system that I've been using for a number of years to start the helis..... Although the pic may not be the best in quality , you can easily see that the outer bearing is a roller bearing....the center "bearing" is the actual sprague clutch and on the other side (which you cannot see) is another roller bearing.....The brand name of this particular clutch happens to be Torrington......

So if that is the approach eliseer is attempting, it appears to be sound....
