They should make these gears metal. That way, the tail gears in the gear box will be the one that strips or the lower main gear. Both are easier to replace than the two front gears...

Now that I've said this, I wonder how long it'll be before I see some aftermarket upgrades. Since I said it here first, whoever does this should give me a free set

tlankford, I don't use locktite on the tail blade screws as they go into nylon lock nuts (on the 600, just fyi). Doc, I had 6 more flights today without the rubber pads and what a difference. Yes a little turning on spool up the first couple of times, but auto landings are so much better and worry free. I like the slide. After over a dozen flights barely a scratch on my skids. Why didn't I make this simple change a LONG time ago!

I use rubbers in the back of the skids only for 2 reasons:-
1:- to help keep the heli in place in the trunk of my car ( I had a few incidents in the past)
2:- taking off from a solid surfaces is much easier ( like a wooden heli pad).

when Doing a sliding auto the heli is actually sliding on the front end of the skids.

Just do it.

I was thinking about that today. My heli was sliding all over the place without the rubber pads, the trunk, the work table, on the runway. I may give that a try.
