Hey they got the manuals right. The sport manual says "Trex 600 Nitro Kit". The pro manual says "Trex 600 Nitro Pro Kit".

Thanks to some great tips here I've now done a ton of high altitude autos with NO STRIPPED GEARS. My three point improvement consisted of: 1. Loosening tail blades 2. Removing rubber pads from skids 3. Dipping nose a little at landing. I am finally comfortable with autos!!! Thanks guys.

That is great advice. I have only stripped my gears 2 times and those were from badly landed autos.

I never fly with the rubber pads on the skids on any of my helis. The rubber holds the heli down. I prefer to let the heli slide when landing autos.

Just replaced my stripped gears last night. Was the front ones. One tooth per gear was ripped off. Put CF tail blades in ground during a (bad) auto. But at least it was a real auto - I ran her out of fuel!

I'm just going to go to plastic tail blades, run them loose as suggested here, and see how that goes. The change out was easy, but time consuming!

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
It was a good trade!

Thanks Doc. But why does every kit come with those dog gone rubber pads? Just something else to purchase I suppose? I don't think it protects the skids that much does it? And how much are skids these days, $6.99

Cheaper then tail blades

If you dont succeed the first time, try and try again. With heli's keep on trying!

they need beef up the t/r gears off of the mainshaft and make the t/r output shaft gear the weak link. this would mean a 2 minute fix, with 6 bux in parts,..i am surprised with all the auto's i have done i hav'nt taken out a set of gears,..

The rubbers are for people that take off on pavement, it helps from keeping the heli from spinning around upon spool up. THATS IT!! If you take off in dirt you dont need them.

They also help stoping wearing the bottom of the struts and skids, the asphalt will wear them off fast.

I think it must be luck of the draw with the tail gears. If I smack the tail blades on the ground I deserve what I get. I have stripped a set however landing in tallish grass. I have no plans of going to the belt, but I do wish that the gears in the tail case were designed to be the weak link instead of those in the boom block.

I do not have a trex 600 but I do have a 450 and some large helis. I have never stripped torque gears even in crashes and have only bent one tail shaft. I keep my tail blades where they hang when not in motion. This is good since you are using locktite anyways. I have also had emergency autos and make sure that I have plenty of speed for about a 2-3 second hover at the end

You know, I take off hard pavement and other terrain, all without those rubber pads. I found, when I was learning, that those rubber pads would make me tip the heli over so I stopped using them. Now, I go without them all the time. I spool up slowly so that the heli usually does not turn on spool up.

If you spot land, then they're fine but I like to have a little "slide" there for autos. It helps prevent minor boom strikes and blade scrapes on the ground from the heli tipping a little.
