Align T-REX 600N 700N > tired of stripping torque gears

Two nice days of flying the Trex's here in Nashville. However each day I stripped the front torque gears landing some aggressive autos on our paved runway. These weren't very hard landings at all but they sure did strip those gears. Anyone else have this problem? I'm thinking of going back to the belt (as I have on one of my other 600's) if I can't correct this or land softer, lol.

Crasher, FYI you should be landing on the skids not the tail blades...

I wish I had thought of that! lol. I think I need to find some soft grass to practice these aggressive autos on.

I mysteriously stripped my front TT gears yesterday and I cant figure out how the heck i did it, No hard landings...the tail blades did clip the taller grass when I autoed in but other than that Im stumped...chewed the gears up quite nicely too grrrrrrrrr

I know exactly when you did it. During that brief second that your blades hit ground. Bad, my blades are medium tight, I am going to really loosen them up when I get the new gears in. I just buy the full gear unit that slides in, instead of trying to take out the old gear and those darn washers. It's more expensive but much more enjoyable to fix it this way.

Little to the side of this topic, but I saved hundreds of dollars this weekend in my embarrassing streak of crashes from having the belt drive. At least I was not the only one at Snohomish. There were so many crashes there.

Each of my crashes were only about $40 in damage (boom, shaft, main bearing, inner blade grip bearings) + main blades, of course ($80). Align parts availability and prices are very reasonable.

yes, I really have to perfect that forward press. It's taken me long enough to hit that kill switch from 200+feet and not pass out, lol. Thanks for the tip.

That was one reason why I bought the Sport Model to get the belt drive. The 50 Raptors have spoiled me from not tearing up the belt ,like the 90SE does if you just barley touch the tail . But my Trex 600N is autoing better that my 90 does. I just don`t see how you could mess one up with the Align .

Oh what a feeling flying 3D can be

Probably between 20 and 30 flights on my Trex 600N Pro, original tail gears front and back. I keep my tail blades on the loose side, and tail out of the dirt.

Im with ink

Sure I have stipped my tail gears(Getting stupid low), but I have gone through maybe 2 sets of tail blades, tapping them on the runway, during autos, than tail gears.
