Be Real

If the 3DX actually robbed your 600N out of 40% power over the plastic fan it would be so noticeable that the owner would take the fan off same day, this is not true, pilots are running there 3DX fans week after week, this 40% power loss over the plastic fan in my opinion is pure fiction, be real......Jim

Jim: that was not his statement. The 3Dx fan takes 40% more power (watts) than the stock fan for an electric motor to drive at 15,000 RPM in a test environment. How much this corresponds to of total engine power in real flight is unknown. It is probably relatively small.

JK and Trex600

I understood the fan power comment pretty much as n808 stated it. Align has an electric motor they can hook the fan to, and it took 40% more amps to turn the 3dx fan at 15,000 Rpm as the stock fan. Jason said he's not had a problem with the fan magnet as long as it's fitted flush and glued in with a drop of Ca.
The one way bearing was not stock and Jason did give a new prototype to wolfcbr who promptly locked it up on the first flight. He cleaned it with contact cleaner and oiled it. I don't know the followup on that one, whether it now works as advertised or not. I do know it was not stock parts. Happy flying. steve.

Looks like a quick install either because he didn't have a spare servo after one went out on him or just a quick test. I don't think you'll see that "bracket" on my mod list LOL

They were not flush as per instructions in manual

The manual does not say anything about the magnets being flush.

If your fan is hitting the shroud, it is because YOU the user did not take the time to install it properly and spin the fan in the shroud to make sure it had clearence. If you are loosing magnets, its because You the user did not make sure you had adequate clearence for your sensor.

My fan had plenty of clearance when I spun it by hand.

The major problem with the stock fan is NOT the fan but the fun hub. It did not run true.

I agree that the major problem is the hub, but when you mix a bad hub with a fan that will easily disort, you are asking for problems. I could not completely tighten my plastic fan down without seriously distorting the fan, so I got it as tight as possible without majorly distorting the fan using plenty of locktite, but this still wasn't enough as I lost two of the screws holding the fan on.

The aluminum fan fixed the problem for me.

Magnet glueing 101:
If you have proper clearance between the magnet and sensor and the magnet hits the sensor, the fan is flexing. If you do not have the magnet glued in good it will come up and hit the sensor.

HM.. JK IS Not even a good pilot nowadays.. HE SUCKS, compare to all 3dm masters participants. He is just more to business.

stock Cooling fan does flex, cos, the plastic quality of the cooling fan is not GOOD!....... CNC cooling fan is heavier and takes more engine's energy but it really performs..

But since you can lean the engine with the better cooling of the aluminum fan,you get the power back. Then what you have is a fan that doesn't flex.
