Safety - RC Helis are not toys > IRCHA PPP "unsafe"? How would you interpret this?

So, we all know the AMA Rules and safety guidlines.
Pilots beyond the flightline=bad
Flying inside the flightline=bad

etc, etc...

So I was just looking at the IRCHA PPP system (Im not actually doing PPP, but was just reading through it)

In Level III, Manuever C.
Something caught my attention. Here is what it says:

Quote
C. Nose-in - Circle
1. Take-off, move into a Nose-in Hover, hold hover for five (5) seconds.
2. Move the helicopter to the right, keeping the tail pointed away from the pilot, in a circle around the pilot, until the helicopter is hovering over the take-off point.
3. Move the Helicopter to the left, repeating step 2 above.

Now, IRCHA works with the AMA a little bit. Like the AMA, IRCHA emphasizes ABOVE ALL, safety!

So in the little excerpt from IRCHA I posted above, how the hell is the pilot supposed to accomplish that whilst following AMA safety guidelines?

Perhaps I am misinterpreting this, and someone can explain this to me. I could be wrong.

But I would hope that this gets someones attention, and they can make a revision to the IRCHA Level III manuever set.

So is the pilot on the flight line or at a designated spot for maneuver that you have listed?

Either way it seems a bit unsafe to me.

exactly. But AMA says all flying has to take place past the flight line.
What I get from the IRCHA PPP manuever, is that it requires him to fly the helicopter 360 degrees AROUND the pilot. The only way this is possible is to bring the helicopter OVER the flight line, and fly over the pit area intentionally.

Pardon my very crude drawing. But this is an explanation of the maneuver as I understand it.

Lets not forget that there are required to be 2 witnesses present in order to certify the testing pilot. where are they supposed to stand?

Nothing says the flightline has to be a straight line.

Find a big field, walk to the middle of it and fly around yourself. The earth isn't going to explode if you do.

But if the pilot is out beyond the flightline, isn't that against the AMA rules? Or is this only permitted during competition where the airspace around the pilot is restricted?

Item 4 in the AMA safety code, RC:

"At all flying sites a safety line must be established, in front of which all flying takes place. Only personnel associated with flying the model aircraft are allowed at or in front of the safety line."

So, therefore, the pilot can position himself ahead of the safety line to operate.

Didn't you sign your AMA application, right under where it asks if you read and agree to abide by the AMA safety code?

Absolutely, one of those guys.
But on a serious note, I would love to join a club if one existed. Who wants to drive an hour and a half just to fly when there are wide open meadows that are better than any AMA field within 500 miles.

And sorry to get off topic

Yeah most clubs have a few guys that just ruin it for me. R/C boat clubs are the worst for this.
