Yes...I've done it. While glueing in the grommets in my new canopy, I managed to get a nice CA finger print on the Automotive PolyUrethane Enamel clear coat. What can I use to get it off???

Thanks in advance for your input!

Conrad, nail polish remover will remove the CA and not harm the paint if you don't leave it on too long... Or you could leave the Thumbprint right where it is and tell everyone it's the newest thing in R/C Helicopters...anit-theft thumbprinting!!! . Chris

Nail polish remover aka acetone. Shouldn't go after the two-part urethane clear coat.

I'm inclined to agree with the acetone idea. You might use pure acetone; the polish reover has some other things in it. If you get it close to all the way off, you could probably buff the rest out with v. fine polishing compound. This WILL haze the gloss, but you can get it PERFECT again with 3M swirl remover and some elbow grease. Finish up with a coat of wax.

I think you need to let the acetone do the work. Avoid a bunch of rubbing if the glue hasn't yet softened. I bet it will come off just fine.

Problem Solved!!!! :)

Ok... First I tried the polish remover. Apparantly my wife prefers the type that has oils and conditioners in it as stated on the label and it didn't work. Then, a drop of Acetone on a Q-Tip and just blotted it on and off. Took it off leaving a dull black appearance (it was on the windshield). Then Wax on Wax Off repeatedly and it's gone!!! Thanks Guys. Oh yeah, Bill, I was out in the shop working on it so I didn't get to try the lemon juice. I'll try it next time as I'm sure there will be a next time!
Thanks again,
conrad

I have been using this product called Orange fresh OXY Clean. I spray it on, leave it for about ten minutes and then it just wipes off. I love it. no damage to the paint either.
