The first full day I have had free in ages. . . . . . . . .
Batteries all charged . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The weather is virtually perfect . . . . . . . . . . . .
Just as I get in the van to go to the site, the postman pulls in front of me with the new TT620 blades for my new Titan (done 4 flights with 600`s).

Bliss

First out of the back of the van comes the Raptor 60 with new-ish OS91. Ten minutes of rich running empties the tank - land, switch off receiver - switch off tranny.

Get Titan out of van and eagerly fit new TT main and new NHP carbon tail blades.

Fuel up the Titan, switch tranny on, switch receiver on, check throttle on zero - fire up - tick over beautiful.
Carry to take off point, spool-up and notice its starting to pitch forward slightly, correct with back elevator, more pitching, more stick - yes you guessed it! Titan nose dives into solid concrete and demolishes new blades after TEN seconds. It`s lying on its side now ticking over after quickly downing the throttle.
Pinch fuel line and pick heli up. Blades are history but no other damage.
Lots of head scratching - until I look at the screen of my Futaba 9ZHP which says current model is RAPTOR 60!!!!!!!!
I`ve heard of dumb thumbs, but this was dumb brain.

RE-FIT 600 blades and carry on without a care in the world until wife spots me putting blades in the bin on my return - +@%&*$£?|+@~{}

We will chalk this one down to experience, not to be repeated in the future - hopefully.

You are not the first to forget to switch the model setting in a radio. A buddy of mine that had been flying for about 6 months was flying a plank and took of. He started yelling for me to come over FAST. He was using a TX6 Futaba radio and for got to switch the model. Luckily I had the same radio at the time and could switch it for him.

He later told me that everything was backwards except throttle and elevator…..

It was impressive, he flew figure 8s with ailerons and rudder backwards!!

Check function

Before taking off I usually check all control functions. It is a good habit to get into. I do left/right/forward/back/tail rotor.

I also do that with my DX7, to make sure all the servos are working. But that does not help if the pitch/throttle curves, trimms, etc are not right. As I said before get a DX7 or radio with a model match type function.
