Another crash; replaced:
- main blades
- mixing arm
- feathering shaft
- main shaft
- main drive gear
- one way bearing
- one way bearing shaft
- tail drive belt
- tail boom case
- tail boom
- tail rotor control arm
- tail boom brace
- horizontal stabilizer
- stabilizer mount (lower)
- landing skid
- tail servo
- rudder control arm
- main bearings

Can't figure why the heli needs 3/4 stick to lift off (lift off at 1/2 stick in the past). Feels like the heli is really short on power. On inspection the main shaft/head (main blades) does feel like its binding somewhere. It is obvious as the head does not come to a free stop. The motor and ESC really heats up; more than before crash. The main battery is also noticeably hotter. Any ideas?

Is it your Trex 450, or Trex 600E? Although it doesn't really matter which...

Your motor is most likely damaged. The magnet(s) might have shifted, or bearing loose or shaft damaged. That would explain the hotter batteries/esc, and lack of power.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

Thanks Matt. Its a 600E. I have replaced the motor and still find that the head feels like its binding and does not stop freely. I'll need to isolate mechanical parts to pinpoint the trouble. Any other ideas? Thanks again.

Had help from a friend and adjusted belt tension and pinion gear spacing...batteries, motor and ESC not running hot anymore. Have an idea why heli still feels like less power/lift...had to replace Thunder Tiger 600 main blades with lighter MS Composite blades. Can the lighter (less bulk) blades create less lift/power?

I once tried a set of MS composite blades for my Raptor. It didn't have the "collective punch" that my other blades have when using the same pitch. I had to increase the positive pitch to get the lift that I an used to having. This was in comparison to Radix and TT600 blades. I believe the MS blades are not as agressive as the others. It still a good blade, just needs more pitch range. Did you try increasing the positve pitch to like +12?

got fuel??
