i have a OS .46 with the crank shortened. if i where to use this in a Falcon SE II will the engine work ? or does the engine need the full length crankshaft???

Short Shaft

Eric,

I guess that would depend on how much of the crankshaft you have cut off? How short it really is.

As the clutch in the SE is threaded to screw directly onto the crankshaft using red locktite (with the prop thrust washer removed), the threads attach down at the bottom by the shanked portion. The outer part of the threads are used by the prop nut to secure the cooling fan only. Consequently, as long as you would have most of the prop nut in threads, using red locktite, then that should all be secure enough.
