e-HeliDirect HDX 300-600 > HDX500SE Main Gear???

Hi guys, i just got my HDX500 with the following setup: Hacker A30 12XL, TPX 5s3850 and a CC80 ESC, and i stripped 2 main gears, i think that 5s is to much power for this main gear, i have read that the lepton main gear are made from better quality plastic, is it tru or should i still get the HDX500 gear?

P.S. I have a 24t pinion on it.

I have a 5s Lepton set-up (kontronics 15-12) and there is no way I'll strip the stock main gear. It's delrin, I think, which is expensive but it can take any power you give it. Tom

2 + 2 = 5 for extremely large values of 2.

Do you do hard 3D with the lepton? i forgot to ask, would the lepton gear work on the HDX500??

It should work fine on HDX500SE. Some CNC main gear may be good for 5s.

24T for 5s is so extreme. Should get about 20T or 21T.

Hey---this 5s set-up is really strong. It's a Kora 15-12 with an 18t pinion. This motor is light 150g and a good kv rating (920)for this application. This thing really does some extreme things and I push it very hard. That doesn't say it all looks good--hahaha---but hard anyway.

What color is your main gear? The new main gear is quite transparent more like a cnc main gear. It is much stronger.

I'm using an align esc and a medusa 6v 3.5a bec. It's not a special esc but it works well. I do a little mixing to keep head speed where I want it---never gets too hot. The evo 3700mah flightpower packs do the job though some are better than others. They work pretty hard---and the balancer needs to kick in to keep things charging and the pack healthy it seems.

Give this calculator a try. The lepton main gear is 94 teeth---not sure about the hdx500se stock main gear.
