I have already replaced the standard size tail servo with a Hitec HS65MG mounted on the boom tube using a pair of slightly modified Trex 600 tail servo mounts.

Servo connects to tail rotor via a length of 3mm carbon fibre tube fitted with cut lengths of Trex 450 steel links and Trex link ends.

This tube runs direct from servo arm to tail linkage without any middle mounts or guides. Gives the tail a much more responsive feel more like my Trex 450 and saves a few grams in the process.

John if you power this thing up you better make sure the heli has

1) The new top bearing supported motor mount
2) The New Gaui gears or the Revco CNC gears.

If not you will have a very short flight

There is a lot of discussion and testing of motors and such over on the other heli forum....

wiw..

We will probably see what we can get out of the short boom with the stock motor first...Gear train seems iffy with the newer motors even with the upgrades...We'll see how it goes...

Well I have already installd the short boom kit after my first crash.
Mine already came out of the box with the upgraded drive train parts installed.

Following the crash I was extremely pleased to see that while I broke both main blades completely there was no damage to any of the gears and I have just examined them while writing this post and everything still looks and sounds good, so I will keep my fingers crossed.
