Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > RAPTOR 50 Tail Rotor Failure - Suggestions For Replacement

Today I was flying my Raptor 50SE when the tail rotor failed. The bearings in the blade grip on one side failed. The outer race came off with the blade grip, leaving the inner part of the bearings still on the tail rotor hub. I have the upgrade hub - SUS PV0499 and the heli only has about 2 gallons through it. Luckily I was just hovering the heli when the failure occurred. Has anyone else had this happen? Now which tail rotor assembly would you recommend for an replacement? Kasama, Quick Uk?

Thanks for your help,
BrentC

Thats probably the most common failure amoung the stock grips. The quick UK tails are great and use a thrust bearing supported by the outer races of the journal bearings thus preventing this problem.

The T-Rex 600 tail hub with thrust bearings will also work. And cost is less than $20

1 more Quick UK vote

I have a couple of the Quick UK tail hub/grip assemblies and I have recommended them to local fliers too. They are really nicely made and are factory assembled with thrust bearings, ready to go with threadlock on the set screws.
All you have to do is to threadlock and tighten the two little grub-screws that locate on the dimples of the standard tail shaft.
Having had a look at your photo - may I sugges that you fit the Quick UK tail case, tail shaft & aluminium pulley also. This is a really well made setup that is very easy to fit and is very strong with good bearings e.t.c.
Have a look at these, this is what I use and have had no problems with...

Hope this helps
