Has anybody changed the gearing on the standard UniExpert Mechanics?
Think the standard mechanics come with 10:1 ratio, but wondered if it is possible to change this?

I had a look at a couple of websites and can't find anything to do with gear upgrades.
Motors and Rotors or Martin Briggs Models might be able to help you.

Thanks for the link Tim.
See the clutch bell with different ratio's, but can't find the matching main gear. Do they supply the two together?

Uni expert gearing

Hi ,

There are several gear ratios available as the guys above mention. All to do with engine size and blade size.
Sometimes depending on which ratio you are trying to obtain you will have to change both the small gear on top of the clutch and the bigger gear driven by the small one. Further to this you sometimes have to put shims between the engine mountings and the body they secure to. This ensures you maintain the correct depth of gear mesh.
If you run a 90 size engine you are recommended to upgrade the clutch bell and clutch as well.
All parts and advice available from the suppliers mentioned.
