Anti-G Heliman Location: Beaumont, CA-USA
| RE setupI fly the Shogun V2 around quite a bit out at my neigborhood park in Beaumont, CA. The Shogun is a great helicopter as long as it is properly set up. What you've got so far will work just fine. A few setup examples to be aware of with this kit include: watch for too tight of a gear mesh when you install your brushless motor, for you may need to file out the motor mount holes with a jeweler's file; the swashplate bearing needs to be superglued to the rotating and non-rotating plates to prevent bearing-swashplate separation in flight, or tiny screws could be used to accomplish this; flybar paddle alignment and paddle distance from the main mast out of the box may be off, for this could cause vibration; ditch the foam blades when you start getting into faster forward flight, they don't track very well and they tend to cause the ship to porpoise in flight,(Helihobby or Helidirect have good alternative blades); check to make sure the tail rotor shaft is not bent, for mine was out of the box and caused severe vibration, along with tail rotor pitch change bearing failure. This is very critical for it spins at around 9000 to 11000 RPM. Take the gearbox apart to get it out and place a flat edge against the shaft to see if it is true; check the belt tension, shouldn't feel tight as a drum nor should it feel loose.
Do you have a radio for this ship? I highly recommend the Spektrum DX-6 or DX-7 DSM band radio. Entirely eliminates glitching. For batteries, I'm happy with the Impulse 2100 16C from Hobby People. A little pricey, but worth it if you don't want to gamble with whether the pack is gonna puff or not.
That's my two cents off the top of my head. Feel free to ask any more questions, and I'll try to get back to you when I can. If sometime you wanted to come on out to where I fly, since you're not too far away, I'd be glad to look your ship over. Without help, helis can be frustrating! |
