Align T-REX 600N 700N > 600N ..... header tank or not !!!!

Ok, here's the question for the week. Do you need to fly the 600N with a header tank or is the new tank design good enough to fly without it like the manual says? I have two Raptors and I wouldn't fly either of those without the header tank just for the piece of mind. Can anyone confirm that there is no need for the header tank on the 600N sport?

I dont use one. Just put in a fuel magnet and get every last drop. Even without a headertank, flight times are the same as my Rappie Titan. The tank is big enough you dont need it.

But then again, I have been throwing mine around and was having so much fun. That I ran out of fuel in low FFF, it was a fun landing.

So, not needed. But some like the piece of mind in that extra 2oz of fuel.

Yes, but not because you "need one."

I found this main tank does not lean the engine out hardly at the end, HOWEVER I find it difficult to judge just exactly how much fuel I have left before it will quit.

The header tank took the worry out completely. So, I am running one because I can simply fly the entire main tank and when it's done I still have 2 oz of fuel to shoot some autos or land. IMO, much better than wondering if you are out of fuel or almost out, or nearly out, you get it.

The header tank also does give me more confidence the engine won't suck in air.

You don't need a header tank on any heli you fly. It is, as you say, more for piece of mind. I run one but a lot of people don't. It's purely preference. I would say if you're a fan of header tanks, as it appears you are with both of your raptors, then I'd say get one.

No header tank or fuel magnet on mine and it runs great down to the last few drops. It always runs consistent. I set my timer for 8:30 then do a few autos and I'm done. A couple times the engine has quit climbing out for an auto but no biggey, I was fixin to do an auto anyway. I run it right down to the bottom of the tank, shouldn't, but I do. I'm starting to like not having a header (coming from a raptor), less fuel line, clunks, weight, and problems. KISS=keep it simple stupid.

I don't run a header tank! Have a KSJ header tank sitting around but never got around installing it, maybe one day but for now 8min flights are okay in my book; Plus I like to keep my setup as simple as possible. Adding a header tank just adds another thing to watch out for, aside from the million of other heli components you have to monitor. Keep a watch on your flight times and land when its almost dry.

I have just installed a header tank, as I was having problems with the standard clunk when I fliped it over quickly, as in the engine would cough! So for peice of mind and the fact I had a header tank around I fitted it to make sure that was the problem. It flys much better

No header tank here, no problems. That being said I do run a fuel magnet. One of the other guys at my field ran without header, on a standard clunk, and noticed alot of leaning out issues below 1/4th tank under hard 3D. Fuel magnet cured all issues for him.

Fuel magnet ???? What is it? Where does it go? What does it do for you? Never heard of that term before.

Is it true that exhaust fumes make fuel magnets deteriorate?

I never tried one because I had muffler pressure going to the tank.

Just refill your tank after every flight to expell exhaust fumes and you will be fine. In fact leave fuel in the tank so the magnet always stays wet.

Double up for safety

I installed a Raptor header tank and a fuel magnet in the main tank, I am leaving nothing to chance, $13 header tank and a $16 fuel magnet means I could possibly save hundreds in repairs from not having these 2 little items. $29 dollar investment for a great deal of insurance. Just do it for yourself and for the better on man kind. Its worth the effort NOW DO IT!....Jim
