Howdy....

Can anyone tell me what is special about the 'special' set screws that Kyosho wants me to use in the tail of my Nexus?

I lost one screw, and want to buy another from a hardware store, rather than spending 10 bucks on a whole new tail rotor set.

Feel free to reply here or personally - ben1000@earthlink.net

Special???

They're special because Koyosho charges $3,001,456.00 for them-that makes them special to koyosho.

I just put a(small) flat spot on the drive wire (both sides); the emphesis is SMALL; if you make them too deep the wire will break. Then use a regular set screw. I think the original has a sort of point on it. --------BladeRunner.

Thanks for the reply, but I think we're talking about different set screws...

The drive wire screw is not listed as 'special' in the Nexus manual, so I agree, you should use any kind.

I am thinking of the set screws from Page 15 of the manual, which are listed as 'special' set screws, and go into the rotor hub to hold it onto the drive shaft.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.... anyone else have a guess?

Thanks,

Ben

Set Screws?

Sorry, you were asking about the tail set screws, and you lost one.
The other set screws that grip the main shaft are small and there are four of them, I don't remember if they are special compared to the others. There are some very small ones that hold the tail pushrod to the front part(in the coupler). Other than that I'm not sure. ---BladeRunner.

special set screws

ben 1000,

BladeRunner was right on this one. The 3x4mm set screws are special because they are pointed at the tip. They seat into small divits on the tail output shaft and more or less lock down, thus preventing the tail center hub from moving either way on the shaft......

Thats how I see it anyway.... I wish you well and many happy landings.

Pound for Pound, Heli's are a blast..... Roland
