Ok Here is the story. I have a new Hawk pro with stock every thing out of the box.
I have Futaba S3151 servos and a Futaba Gy240 gyro, Power plant is a os .37

NOW!
I can hover with no problem. Everything seems to be ok BUT once I'm in forward flight and really standing on the gas the heli will bob in the air it will lose alttitude till i drop the power. (I don't hear the engine lose power either) I noticed it only from 3/4 to full stick. I have checked for rubbing wires and rubbing ball links but alas to no avail I cannot find the prob. Any Suggestions?

Thank you to all who reply.

could be a glitch, so check all screws that mount to metal, check your collective servo gears for a missing tooth, make sure your Rx antenna is not so close to other wires,,

I'm sure others will have other ideas

do you gradually lose power when you giver full throttle? i have had that problem before, and it was just my engine over heating and losing power. dropping throttle would take teh stress away, it would cool down, and i would get my power back.

the fix was just to richen it.

if you heli is bobing up and down rappidly, it may be a glitch like Wasp said.

do you have a PCM receiver?

if you do, i would recommend you use the failsafe. set everything to HOLD, except for the throttle, you want that at idle.

you will know if you get a glitch or not at that point because your engine will rev. I just finished going through all that with my Predator.

Yeah, I agree.
If you run out of gas eat pork n beans. if you need
more rpm at the top, take your pitch curve 5 down a notch.

I had the same issue with a Hawk sport until I put a check valve into the fuel line. This solved the issue completely!

I checked everything out and spooled it up and it still did the same thing.
It will only do it at mid to full throttle. once I land and go back up its fine till i put the boots to it.
Will bubbles in the fuel tank do that?

this is driving me nuts

fuel foaming bubbles in the fuel tank are the number one indication that you are running TOO LEAN. Eiter the idle/hover screw or the main needle or both - I would suspect both....specially the main needle.

Just put a 2 or 3 oz header tank on the machine. This will prevent the "bubbles" from entering the carb on the engine.

I second the header tank if overheating is your problem. I know it made a crazy difference in mine. Also what fuel are you using? Most say 15% is enough but i disagree. I like 30%. You can punish the collective and the motor won't get more than luke warm if you run it rich. You also still have the power for tic-tocs and all that with VERY little bog.

If you set the main needle a couple clicks rich, and try it again you should still be able to get over the mountains and into the orchards.

Hmmm. I run 10%, I know it should be higher but the engine runs great.pluse i run it in my planes also. I have been told that I'm running to rich buy other seasoned heli pilots at the field, It really pukes the smoke. I use after run in the engine after every run....well most times..I do get lazy like some
I have a header tank, I guess I will put it on see if that works.

I tried 10% in mine but i couldn't get much power out of it without it getting too hot. The higher nitro you run the cooler(more rich) you can run it with good power. I 3D my hawk with oil out the exaust pretty thick. Then again my blade cp has tought me good collective managment so i don't need to lean it out Much. As long as i can pull 10* at 2000RPM i'm happy.

Ok I have tried almost everything but the puppy is still diving, I paid closer attn yesterday and noticed that the engine kinda sounds like it leans out (engine rpm increases) just before it dives.
I have it running pretty rich. I thought it was air bubbles or a hole in the fuel tubing but that was'nt the problem. I was chatting with a buddy who mentioned that it could be the pipe. Not enough volume. I'm running the stock black pipe to the .37 engine. Could this be my problem? I have a cupple .32's should I though one of those in? or just get a new pipe? I really love the power of the .37

The stock black pipe is fine for the OS32, but is a too restrictive for getting the most out of your OS37.

I would suggest that you get the new CN3037 muffler for it. It is relatively inexpensive and specially designed for the OS37.

OF note when setting up any engine in a helicopter. Set the main needle for no foaming (no leaning)in FFF and then set the idle/hover screw for a relatively fat (richer) setting in the hover (no foaming).

Yeah,

Phil has it right. Century PN 3037 long chamber muffler. In stock
for $40.00 USD. Not bad considering the MP2 is twice the price and out of stock.
Let us know if you have stock Phil?

Thanks

OK..in fast foward flight the heli wants to Dive right? He didnt say Die in FFF so why are we talking engines and mufflers? Since the engine in flight sounds fine and is blowing good smoke you must have a good powerplant. Sound to me like you might have a blade issue or something amiss in your set-up. What blade and paddle combo are you flying anyway? I had a pair of Quick 550 carbons on mine and they were causing a bad pitch up in FFF. Put on some SABS and the heli is right as rain again. Just the blades caused the pitching problem on my heli, maybe yours too. Swap for some other blades and see if it goes away.
