| It sounds like your auto rotation gear isn't working properly. You might try taking the gear off and inspecting the needle bearings to be sure they are free. You could clean them with WD-40 and then apply a very thin oil to them and the main shaft. The auto rotation bearing should engage immediately on rotation of the main gear and it should release as soon as the motor stops whereby it will free wheel. Unless it's had heavy use I doubt that it's bad so inspect it and see whats going on.
