well ive got the eco 8 running stock blades a phaser 30-3 motor a jeti esc and a 24 tooth pinion. the heli has no head speed it flys but man it is a hand full i would guess that it is around 900-1000 now that is with a 3s 5000 mah battery that is brand new been charged 2 times i have to go into idle up run full neg pitch to get the head speed up to that and then go pos. pitch to even get it off the ground. im running -9 +9 pitch i dont get it i can not even get it off the ground in normal mode i am flying it with the spectrum dx6 ,now for the scarry part i bought a used eco 8 here for parts and it came with a 3s1p 4400 mah battery with 11 charges on it and it gets the head up to about 1200 but as i was hovering around the yard the battery fell out and she came down nothing was hurt but it was scary. i have the auto rotate gear almost acts like it is not right take along time for the head to get going while the tail rotor is at full speed before the main blades are
please help me with this heli thinking about just selling them and going gas it was much easier i have two complete ecos and over half of another one
thanks

It sounds like your auto rotation gear isn't working properly. You might try taking the gear off and inspecting the needle bearings to be sure they are free. You could clean them with WD-40 and then apply a very thin oil to them and the main shaft. The auto rotation bearing should engage immediately on rotation of the main gear and it should release as soon as the motor stops whereby it will free wheel. Unless it's had heavy use I doubt that it's bad so inspect it and see whats going on.

well by engage do you mean rpm's instant or close to it if i give mine full throttle i can hear and see the main gear moving but the blades are goiing slow till they catch up i will look at the gear and bearing see if that is it .
do new lipo's need a few charges to get them up to power? just wandering why the 3s1p 4400 battery is working better that the 3s 5000 battery
thanks

I had problems with my A/R bearing coming unglued from the hub. It slipped so much my Eco wouldn't fly at all. I reglued it with epoxy. You can check for this problem by trying to turn the head backwards while holding the main gear fixed.

By the way if you have the original unhardened main shaft- it is also possible for the main shaft to wear down to a smaller diameter after a lot of use, which stops the A/R bearing from gripping the shaft like it should.
