We just tried to install a 3DX fan, and the two big screws holding the fan on fit flush, but the two smaller screws have a gap between the fan and the hub. is it the fan or the hub?

You didnt clean the burrs off the hub where the fan seats on the hub.
Mine wobbled untill i took the fan off and filed the burrs off,now it runs very true, and seats all the way on the fan.
Also if your using a YS 50,you need to use the OS nut that holds the fan hub on.The YS nut is .050 thicker and wont let the clutch shoe go all the way down on the hub.DOUG

Hi jaxrotor:

That is how I designed it. I want it to have no back lash at all….

2 cycle engines will produce gap or play if the bolts were lose…
We decided to make 2 bores tight (with no play) and 2 with normal gap…

Also you will note the center bore tight to prevent oscillation or not concentric run.

Thanks...

It wasnt really a problem.. I had to file a little on the hub and had to make the smaller holes just a touch bigger. The screw seemed to want to thread into the fan. No problem at all with the center hole. Very nice overall job.

Where the fan touches the hub,it wasnt letting the fan sit flat against the hub and caused a wobble.

He doesn't need my help,i have seen him fix a broken carbon fiber tail boom with popsickle sticks and JB weld. Then he glued the TR drive shaft back together with a piece of 4mmm flybar and JB weld, and the best part is it worked good as a new one.

I had the same problem, when I tightened the fan to the hub it became distorted. I had to make sure the hub went all the way into the fan, and tighten the bolts slowly to get it to seat flush. It took me a few tries but now it fits flat and spins evenly.
