Is this tach any good? Anyone out there use it? Does it record your max, average? Thanks for the info!

Happy flying.

I have seen Alan Szabo Jr use it and it seem to work fine. I decided to save some money and go the cheap way with the VDO C08. Check out this web site :

http://www.systemagic.co.uk/rcheli/...peed%20tach.htm

You can get the same results for about $30.00 and it does record Max and average.

It's OK, no max, no avg, just NOW. Visible from about 10-20 feet away
in a hover, needs to see good difference in colors, ie black vs the sky, just like optical sensor for gv-1, I painted the bottoms of my paddles black and it worked good, works ok too if you got black blades, it is setable for 2 or 4 strobes per rpm, ie mains or paddles only or both,
depending on where you mount on boom. It does come with a LONG cord, nice of them. And it has a killer load test for your battery, it really loads the pack up.

I cracked my case in a crash and the lovely support from TT/Ace told me too bad. So I glued mine back together. Someday I will get a GV-1.

Thanks!

Thanks for the scoop. I don't know if I want to hover closer than 10 feet from me to read it. Sounds kinda dangerous.

Happy Flying

I have both the TT and the MA unit (where a 2nd person takes the reading).
If you are alone...use the TT.
If you are in a club with other pilots...... use the MA unit. More reliable and no messing about with mounting or it not being able to give you a reading due to bad light condition.
On the other hand the MA is also a lot more expensive.
