Today I guess it wanted to be a tree. I planted that sucker hard. Had a lockout from about 100 ft up, 3/4 throttle and inverted. Bad thing is it was right above the runway and heading inward. Took about two seconds to relize there was nothing I could do, except yell run which we all did. Luckily it landed between two pilot plantforms and noone was around.

I had some hard crashes before and much worse flying lower.
Here some pics to so how tough this sucker is. And no kidding this thing was screaming on the way down. Thank god it landed in mud. I'm sure it would havve been much worse.

Very sad to see the fotos. Did you have problems with gear noise?
Do you think spindle is too soft? When I do some 3d's
my blade tracking goes out. I was thinking spindle is too soft.

No gear noise at all. If your tracking is going out. Pull the head apart and lube the dampeners.

Got two gallons thru ours, no problem with the spindles and Steven flys a pretty aggresive 3D routine. As okcheli mentioned make sure the dampers and spindle are well greesed.

Also nothing excessive with the gear noise, nothing any louder than our 600 size electric, every heli has a bit of gear noise its just the nature of the beast with a metal pinion driving a plastic gear.

Ive been think about this main shaft. Ive never had one bend that bad. But what if it didnt bend that bad. last time I crashed my vibe it took out the blade grips and cracked the head block.

So I ask myself why do people want to go with hardend main shafts.
If it dont give, then the impact is going to tun throught the head portions and then travel down the shaft into the frame and final take out the main gear.

okcheli

you are correct the main shafts and everything that takes part of the impacts help to slow and stop the damage from just taking out everything in its path.
I'll keep my OEM shafts! thanks

I sure am glad that it did. I realy would hate to try to get a set of those frames again.
Even the plankers at the field was in shock. We was just discusing well more like argueing about how strong carbon fiber was. They didnt see how it would even hold together in flight. Guess I showed them huh
