I had a blade strike this weekend with my Vetol...it took out all six blades!!!! It happened about 4 feet off the ground and I got it down with no damage to the frame other then bending the landing gear a little...which I'm going to make a fiberglass plate in place of the metal one that is used for the rear struts. I know I've read that the belt tension has to be very tight and mine was tight enough that you could feel each tooth on the gears but I guess this wasn't tight enough...????

Had you noticed the blades coming out of phase before or was this the first time it happened. I had made a few flights with mine and noticed the blades were at a little different position then before the flight so I tightened the belt slightly. I haven't had any problems since then but I have heard that the belts can stretch which would make it hard to get it tight enough.

This was the 5th flight I had on it and I checked them each time and it was fine before the flight and I checked the tension before and after each flight and it hasn't seemed to changed...so I guess it just wasn't tight enough. I do have more room in the slots for adjustment so that isn't a problem for me at this time.

Sorry to hear of your hard times. I know mine is pretty darn tight. Hard to explain how tight it is but you have to push on the belt with a good amount of pressure to get it to move 3mm like it says in the book. Hope your up and flying soon. What blades are you going to get for replacements. I have been looking for a good set of fiber blades to replace the wood.

Thanks man!!!!! I'm going to make mine even tighter next time. As for the blades, I just can't (and won't) pay that kind of money for carbon blades so I'll just get another set of woodies.

I had no idea how much those carbon blades were. That is unbelievable. I will be staying with the woddies myself. Keep us posted.
