e-Ikarus Piccolo-Eco 8/16 > Upgraded UC structs ??

Can anyone recommend a source for replacement upgraded U/C structs, preferably metal or carbon?

Having fitted ali side frames everytime I land slightly less than optimally (and I don't mean crash!!) one of the plastic UC structs snaps close to its mounting point. Whilst its not the end of the world it does start getting tedious replacing them on a regular basis.

Funnily enough I never broke a single one when I was learning and had plastic side frames, I guess all that extra flexability saved it.

The alternative is I might try to adapt a pair of voyager E ones (especially as they are less than 1/2 the price of the eco 8 equivalent!!

Any suggestions welome

Cheers Blade

Hi Blade, sorry I can't help you but I felt sad that you haven't had any replies so I thought I would drop you one. There are a couple of very cool Eco's here, have you tried PM'ing the owners. Wasn't Windyone one of the guys with a great bird? They may be able to point you in the right direction. Im back in Surrey for a couple of weeks and have just poured some of my hard earned cash into Mick Charles Models. Pop in and speak to Dave, he has some odd bits n bobs for the Eco. Also, hanging above the counter is Jamie's 'work of art' Eco, he may also be able to help. Good luck

For the standard ECO 8, I used the larger training gear with carbon fibre rod supports. Got the idea from a post here. Have not broken landing gear since. Pic in my gallery. This technique will strengthen the standard gear as well.

Jungle bob is very complimentary of my ECO 8 - thanks Jungle bob !

If you search on ebay for 'carbon undercarriage' you will bring up loads of them from carbon copy. Just select a suitable size and style. You will have to make some mounting bracketry (probably) but itll look great. See my gallery for some photos.

A heli that nice is worthy of praise Mick! I have betrayed mine and decided to move on to a Hurricane EP550. I bought it two weeks ago whilst on a stop over in the UK and am very pleased with it.Not sure what to do with the Eco upgrade brushless stuff I have on it and will be reducing it parts fairly soon. Any offers?

Thanks for the offer Bob but ....

I'm afraid I've done something similar, a new T-Rex 450 SE V2

A little bit of dust is starting to settle on the old girl but I won't abandon her, shes quite happy keeping my Voyager E company ("..the one with the waggly tail.." ) at the moment, complete with her new custom fitted Voyager E UC set.

Back to the sim now to sharpen up the reflexes for the dinosaur
