Hi Steve,

I was curious too when it was first hit the market about 6 months ago until I got 1 for my self early last week. I am happy with it especialy when I can use 2 pcs of 11.1V 2100 mah lipo to fly it. The brushless motor which comes with the kit provide decent power for light 3D. At last I am flying a 22.2V machine as the Align's Trex is too costly for me to consider.

My kit comes with 50 Amp ESC, BEC, brushless motor, a 2 cell (7.4V) lipo and a pair of 500mm wood blade.

Hurricane

Mine is awsome!! I love it. Getting just over 5 mins flight time, roll and flip rate is awsome, tic tocs well and does everything i am capable of doing. Im using NHP blades 550mm but might try 500s. Forward speed is exellent and very pitch stable. Definatly the best electric heli i have flown to date.

flight time

I run the heli in govenor mode with a flat line in idle up of 90%, I keep the head speed as high as possible because if you run the head slower and the use lots of cyclic (enough to slow the head speed) it drains the lipos quicker. Also the motor runs more efficient at higher speeds.
I will try and get a tacho on the head and let you know what head speed i run.
Do you use BEC and seperate lipo for the radio gear?

I have one. I got the kit/motor only kit for $299.99.

I tossed the motor right away and got a Z-Power Z30-1100. I fly it with 2 - 3s Thunder Power Extreme 2200 and 2 - 3s Flight Power 2500 packs. My combo is good for ~5 min of 3D at ~2300rpm head speed.

2 3s FP 2500 packs in series (6s)
Spectrum DX7/AR7000
3 Airtronics 94751 servos on cyclic

2300rpm Head Speed with metal blade grips and center hub
+/-12 deg collective +/-7 deg cyclic

It is almost as big as a Trex 600 but ~1 lb. lighter

I got mine day before yesterday. I don't have a lot of time to work on it but what I've seen so far makes me VERY HAPPY! I've given up waiting for the T-Rex 500. It's going to take one helluva deal for Align to enter the 500 market now. I seriously think they've waited too long.

The Trex 500 will also be a 430-450mm blade heli. The Hurricane is a 475-500mm heli. Its as inexpensive as the Align helis for kits and parts and EVERYONE in the US is starting to sell them.

I don't wish anything bad on Align. Hell, I LOVE both of my T-Rex 450's. Align just plain blew it on the 500 size heli because they wanted to direct all their time on YET ANOTHER .30 size NITRO heli! Aren't there enough of them already? It's too late. They've lost my money this time and I'm VERY happy with my Hurricane purchase.

The head can be setup for a lot of collective...up to 14 deg. The problem is when you go that car you get limited in cyclic.

I have mine set for +/-12 in collective and 7 deg on cyclic. At 2300rpm it has a lot of pop and very fast cyclic response.
