Vario Sky Fox - Benzin - Evolution - Xtreme > Vario missing parts...again

I've just received my 3rd Vario kit (XLV).
And once again I have parts missing or incorrect. It shouldn't be (at £1500) but it seems to be the norm. Or am I just unlucky?

I've built 5 align kits, 2 Thunder Tiger, and several other assorted kits and only Vario seems to get it wrong.

Nope not unlucky, same thing here with my first Vario, bits missing and what's worse a £53 side frame screwed up. Not a word from Vario Germany despite my emails, snail mail too with photos also ignored. John at Vario UK will help you though.

Regards
John.

I bought this off a Euro dealer, so it's not really your problem John, though in some ways I wish I had bought it locally.

If I have problems in claiming them off the dealer or Vario, I will buy them from you.

many thanks!

My trainer package was 100% ok, but when I broke my tail and ordered whole tail again I have to do 2 orders for missing parts. Lastone Vario paid all costs of parcel and parts was also free.

They should be little bit more accurate!

The total missing parts are

4 x 70/172 (they sent 70/142 wrongly)
2 x 056 main blade bolts (they didn't send any)
1x 21/5 (1350mm long)

I did get a reply from vario last week. They told me to look in the bags!!
The parts are not lost, all missing items had the wrong parts sent
(main bolts wrong diameter, tail push rod too short, head push rods too short).

It's been a while since they replied. The kit cost me over 2000Euros, so I would of hoped they would reply with appropriate haste!

there's a lot of parts so perhaps they are human and make mistakes (though TT and align don't seem to miss out parts).

What really bugs me is they should say 'OK, we are sorry, we will despatch the correct part immediatly'
Not; 'check the bags' treating us like morons. You can't loose a 1.3metre push rod at the bottom of a bag! a grub screw perhaps.

- note I am refering to Vario direct, not the dealers who are the ones who are left to pick up the pieces and argue on our behalf.

My Benzin Trainer was missing one of the long 3m screws that clamps the boom and also a pushrod. It was quickly taken care of. Just be thankful you didn't buy a Bergen and get a bunch of oddly machined or even used and stripped parts like I did. I'll take waiting on a few missing parts over bad machining and junk any day.

still waining for a reply from Vario DE better than
'check the bags' (like I could lose a 1350mm push rod!)

waiting for

4 x 70/172 (sent 70/142 wrongly)
2 x 056 main blade bolts (sent M3 bolts!)
1x 21/5 (the part sent is 200mm too short!)

The manufacturer do not seemed to be interested in keeping a good reputation, and the Czech dealer is not providing any help.

If you do intend to buy Vario, ensure you have a dealer that can clean up the (inevitable) mess, or be prepared to add a 5% reserve fund to buy the missing parts (as the value will not quite be high enough to make a legal challenge)

Its only been in the last few months I actually bought a 'new' vario from John. But every time I had phoned him in the last 3 years to ask about bits for second-hand machines I had bought, he has been extremely helpfull.

Most of the time, It was just advise I wanted and no money changed hands.

Vario UK understand that todays lookers, are tomorrows buyers.

He must get loads of people like me? but the advise is still freely given with no agro. Unlike some I could mention ( Mr Briggs! )

hazchem88, next time you buy a Vario, it may well pay you to spend the extra ( if there is any ) and keep your money in the UK??

That was a silly place to put the ground !

My first Vario kit I built was missing a few push rods and Joe at East Coast Vario took care of me.

So far on my 2nd Vario build, it's good so far..

still waiting for spares from the Czech Dealer.

i pointed out to Vario DE that bad dealers makes the manufacturer look bad.

They don't seem to care.

I quote from their email to me
"Each of our partner firms is legally independent, i.e. it is itself responsible for the content of its web site, and for all orders, contracts and settlements involving its customers."

fair enough, but each time one of their dealers drags his heels, doesn't answer emails etc, if reflects badly on Vario DE.

And remember, the error was with the Vario headoffice in the first place.

I run my own company and I too have worldwide dealers for my products (synthesisers). If one of my legally independant dealers was not providing a good service, I would speak to them about it, and in worse case, suspend dealings with them.

And if one of my kits had missing parts (I sell kits too), I would be happy to post the missing parts direct to the customer.

I know there are good Vario dealers out there and hats off to them. But unfortunately you don't know who the bad ones are until you buy from them, then it is too late.

Rbush, yes silly with hindsight,

but, the EU is a freemarket, so buy where you please and don't feel bad about it. When you see a dealer listed on Vario's website, you assume they must be OK right, afterall Vario are 'reputable'.
But the problem is only partly with this dealer - Vario DE should take more care packing, and post spares out quicker.
I have bought so many heli kits now, (other kits too, like music electronics, flight sim parts), yet only my 3 Vario kits have had missing parts. Why does everyone else get it right?

John White is speedy and helped me out in the past with missing parts from the two kits I previously bought from him. But I bet after every kit he sells, he waits for the inevitable email/call asking for the missing parts!

I am on a rant!! - I've bought several kits direct from MS Composit in the Czech republic, all arrive quick and complete, so we can't assume all the Czechs are corrupt like someone in this thread has implied.

I have built six Vario kits to date, the last one a few weeks ago was an Acrobatic and is the first one missing anything. In this case it was one of the pushrods going from the servo to the swashplate, I just made one up from blank stock. Craig B

I don't understand your problem. You had a pefectly high quality solution through Vario UK and decided to go elsewhere. Yes, the EU is a duty free zone but you will always get better service with a local dealer.

I just about got all the missing parts off the Czech dealer.
Still 1 issure to resolve.

Vario DE are now being very helpful and are going to help me out with the final part since their dealer isn't.

Vario DE gave me this criptic message...

"After you moved completely to Czech, you will learn more differences to your former homeland (When in Rome do as the Romans do.)."

I don't think they have a good opinion of the dealer either!

Hey guys, my XLV was short a few items as well but Joe Howard took care of it. I also had to exchange my three blade set as well because the trailing edge near the tip had an area that wasn't bonded. No way I was putting that on a $10K plus heli. Anyway, it's ready to break in the motor now so I can log some stick time before dropping the Turb in there. Yeah baby, can't waite.

The beatings will continue until morale improves...

I'm late (just saw this thread), but

let me say that you can't compare Align and TT with Vario. It's comparing a Chinese car with Rolls Royce

You wanted to save money, but you got yourself in a mess and expected Vario HQ to solve your problem. Hmmm, let me see...you live in the UK, buy a Mercedes in the Czech republic, something goes wrong and you expect Mercedes HQ to get you out of the mess you got yourself into?
Guess what, there is no such thing as one (perfect) European Community.

You run your own company? Then you of all should know that dealers tend to keep their customers happy. Let's say someone needs some parts urgently, but it would take at least a week or so to have the parts delivered. I know many storekeepers who will remove the parts from another kit and sell it to the customer and order the removed parts afterwards.
Don't blame Vario HQ when your Czech dealer screwed up.

I agree with "fredd" and "chinnook"; you wanted to get a front row seat for a dime? There is no such thing. As they said "stop wining and get your stuff from a dealer in the UK".
