Only on the Advantage web site.

> Don't like the 90 degree gearbox

I 100% concur with that. I have no interest in that conversion due to the 90 deg gearbox.

I don't particularly like them myself only because of the unlubricated steel on steel gears but they work quite well for anyone who needs really tall gearing. The 90* aspect is just an aesthetic issue. I'd like to see a lubed planetary gearbox instead which are doable but pricey.

And if you haven't had the opportunity to see or try a setup with 20 to 1 gearing and a 40,000 RPM motor you really don't know what you're missing.

That being said I have no intention of getting one mostly because JR stuff really doesn't turn my crank!

TP Pack used to sale similar gearbox for the 3dmp and Logo, and I had one. You are correct about the power with a 40000rpm motor, but the maintenance is terible on the gearbox and the noise can cause radio interference.

I agree with you on the maintenance issues.

The bearings don't last long and I've seen the gears throw steel dust that can get sucked through a fan cooled motor.

There is another 90* setup by DUZI out now that appears to me to be enclosed and maybe lubricated. It's only a Lepton sized heli though

I wish someone had a reasonbly priced 2 or 3 to 1 gearbox that could handle 3000Ws without the problems we mention.

The most powerfull setup I've ever flown was using an 8 pole Neumotor at 30,000 RPMs.

90° Gear Box

On the 90° gear box issue;

I have run two machines running on 10 and 12 lipos 3700's and 4,000's with pretty good success.

The machine I use for drag racing finally got a new set of bearings just this year, and it's been in service for 3 years now.

If you get it set up correctly, which is not really all that hard, there are very few maintenance issues.

Radio noise? - I can't speak to this one because I have not experienced it directly.

If you are purely interested in performance, you almost need a 2 stage machine. Lots of RPM geared correctly is the best way to make a bunch of power.

Just my .02

hey Jkos , man , back to the Avant electric again huh? I still have your old on on the back burner, I need to get back to it. but I been really thinking about getting some G10 plate and making my own frames to get the weight down to 9 1/2 lbs on 12s , if thats possible like the Trex 700 I have , it weighes around 9.4 lbs with 12s with the Avant head on there which looks tuff
when you ganna post pictures ?
Ion yall , ha ha this is a fair heli but since the IonX 2 came out it weighes 11 lbs. CGs is way off , Tim should have redigned the whole frames instead of being cheap. got one here Im fixing to get rid of soon

Sold the Vibe a while ago and trying to sell the Avant EFX now. I have given up on 90-size electrics for now due to time and flying site limitations.
