As soon as the bird gets better I'd get a DX7 and some HS55's and slap'em on that bird, get back to that field, and take her up for a spin!

Pyrock,
It is refreshing to see someone has a sense of humor and can keep this situation in it's proper prespective.

I feel the deepest of sympathy for your friend who lost his bird.........I also hope the other guy eventually finds the McCaw

He who dies with the most toys is the winner!

I can joke about it because the bird sounds like it's going to be ok and the Trex450, well, it's only $ and he can brag about how he took out a $2000 "bird" that wasn't another RC aircraft!

The T-Rex 450 broke of course

What was the damage? Did the birdstrike cause a crash?

In reference to the comment:"You are right. The bird should not have been allowed to fly there.Dumb thing for the owner to do.
The field should not have allowed it. But they did, therefore accepting responsibility.Dumb thing for them to do.

Ben, Weather any sign was posted or someone said something to the bird owner, common sense tells me flying a pet bird around RC aircrafts at a field reserved by the state for RC model aircrafts is just plane dumb either way you look at it. Doesn't matter who accepted responsibility the question is who lost out at the end the living pet bird/owner or the RC Heli machine that can replace parts?
There are plenty of signs stating that this is a park for RC aircrafts only not birds. Should be a lesson learned for her. Just be glad it wasn't a gas heli. Birds can fly at any local state park not the same for helis. If you touch a hot surface without any signs posted who looses? i believe there is a area for spectators (birds, dogs, children, non RC model flyers) behind the fence. start educating your friend about things that could happen if you don't use common sense. The field did not accept responsibilty, the bird owner did by taking the risk by allowing her pet bird to fly where RC aircrafts are flying as parents are responsible for allowing their kids out on the flying field to spectate.

Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.

bird caused the crash not the pilot.

Damage

Main blade, tail boom, main shaft, spindle, fiberglass canopy, and the usual crash things.

I still think she should pay for the damage that the bird caused.

That's the bottom line.

Heads up, it's my turn to crash & burn , NOT EVEN

Considered Fake...

I don't think it's a real event. The point was well made by others that left comments for that vid clip.
