Hello gang.. I just installed new spindles (not due to a crash) and re-greased my thrust bearings in the grips.. I recieved a new set of head dampers and they are the "Hard" style ones.... now my blade grips are tight as hell.. I greased them with triflow but that really hasnt helped.... anyone have any ideas on how to loosed these up a bit?? thanks.. Jason

dampners

The dampeners go between the plates on the head, and you use all four of them. It sounds like you tried to use them between the blade grip and the bearing block.

I don't know alot, but I know what works for me!......................Memiors of a Schleprock.

hmmmm.. I might have had too many rum and cokes the other night when I put them together... Funny... I put them back exactly where they came out Does this mean all this time I have been flying with them installed incorrectly since it left the factory??? nahh not a quick machine Sure would be nice to have an exploded diagram... thanks for the help.. I'll check them now...

two different O rings

There are small O rings that go between the bearing blocks and the blades grips. These should not have to be replaced for a long time. the 4 packs of o rings go between the plates on the head. These are much thicker and stiffer and go between the plates on the head. The plate should have someting like 10 bolts per side. If you remove one side then there should be a piece of silicone tubing with a small aluminum rod in the center. Remove this silicone tubing and replace it with the four O rings. It should be a snug fit. This will stiffen the head for more precise control and increase aerobatics. If you are replacing bearings etc. already you may want to check the alignment of your side frames or check your assembly and see if you are perhaps preloading your bearings and generating excessive heat.

I swapped the dampeners out and I did not find any silicon tubing in there.. just the 4 rubber o rings like the new ones I had.. oh well.. they are new again now... I still dont really see how they effect anything at all... dampeners I am familiar with are attached to spindles..

On a single axle design the dampenrs are attached to spindles. On a floating axle design like the quick line and the Xcell pro 2K which share the same head, the entire head teeters on a bearing and the dampeners must go in the head block. Floating heads are supposedly better and are definetly more expensive. But with the current innovations many single axle designs are just as good.
