Is there a proper way to hold the sticks on the TX? I have been using my thumbs with the sim but have heard that you should use your thumb and pointer finger. Thanks.

I like to use a strap around my neck for insurance. Also I think you should learn in the begining to use thumbs and first fingers
not just thumbs It gives you beter control just my openion.

comfort and whatever feels right, for me at my age i have been playing games and xbox's all my life so thumbs come naturally to me.. but if nothing comes naturally learn with thumb and pointer or inch" as you have more control in the end.

Hmm … right now I am flying with just a jock strap and a sailors cap but I will consider the overalls.

I like the thumbs with the pointer fingers resting at the top of the sticks. Thanks for all the replies.

Well i fly planks with thumbs only , Thumbs for simulators as well ....BUT the minute i fly a heli its thumbs & fingers on the collective and thumbs only on the cyclic

I've tried just thumbs & finger and even just thumbs for helis but i always end up going back to finger and thumb on collective and thumb on cyclic within a minute it like a natural reaction its weird

I fly with thumbs and forefingers, but it always felt awkward with the stock "short" sticks on my 9303; seemed like even when I was trying to be very precise with my commands, my thumbs would naturally push in an unwanted control input. I've recently put the "long" gimbals on my transmitter and am amazed at how much my flying has improved just due to being comfortable...I can't believe I fought the short stisks for so long....

When I used to fly planks I flew with just thumbs. Now I fly heli's its thumbs and fingers all the way. It made a big difference on yaw commands as I always used to increase or decrease the throttle slightly.

I was always shown the thumb/pointer method ..

The thumb goes on the bottom of the stick, the pointer finger on top of the stick.

The rest of the hand and fingers are used to steady the TX using the chest / belly as the support.

Lucky for me I have a beer belly ......

Use whatever is most comfortable for you, that will give you the best precision and speed. In general, the thumbers like shorter sticks and the pinchers like them longer. Play with stick length and spring tension until you find the best combination for you.

Wow... everybody has different style!

I usually wear a neck strap.
I fly with a thumb only on the pitch, and a thumb and finger on cyclic.
