my hdx 450 is 2 hovers old, just finished building it. on 3rd flight, bad vibration, and discovered main shaft bent. never even crashed it yet, ha ha. any way, you can actually bend this shaft in half with just your hands, so i`m leary of replacing it with stock one. has this happened to any one else? will a trex one work?
any help would be most appreciated

I use them in mine, direct fit.
Flybar is the same as well.
Only dif I think is the feathering spindle and the tail shaft.

If you bling it, they will come :D

I know this is an old topic now but, this was one of the worst experiences i ever had. I had bought an hdx 450 and set it up with the best of the best equipment. jr ds285 servos with a 3400g on the tail. I used a gy401 gyro and you can begin to follow along. The tail was completely out of balance and I 'm not talking the blades. The belt drive gear was drilled out of center. However that was livable for testing. The gyro and awesome 3400g kept it from twitching. The bottom third of the vertical fin was just a blur. It was kind of funny. Well I was hovering and testing about ready to test forward flight. I set the heli down just a little hard. I did not hurt anything and it was not a crash. Just a pitchy landing. I went to spin it back up at it had a horrible shake. I started to look at the heli and the main shaft was bent. I thought it was an optical illusion at first because of the severity of the bend. SO here is the funny part. My friend says let me see and spools it up IT was about two feet off the ground shaking violently and then the head literally expolded in every direction. The battery flew thirty feet. I wish my friend had not done that because I wanted to send the heli back because as you said you could bend the shaft with your hand.

I now use the hdx frame because I do like the servo placement. I upraded all the bearings. You have to by bearings by size because the align bearings are NOT compatible. I also changed the tail output gear shaft to a microheli. My rotor head is align however if you have a V1 align head I use the hdx rotor grips because they have the thrust bearings like the v2 align grips. I use an align carbon boom. This has to be worked in the hdx frame block for the tail as it is slightly larger in diameter than the hdx tail boom. This is possible though without damaging the boom. IT will scratch but that is ok. Finally I use the align tail rotor mechanics. They are machined vibration free and it works well with this set up. I have a lot of fun with mine in fact I will probably be selling this set up in the very near future.

I have to add that the explosion destroyed the gears in two of my three cyclic servos I rebuilt them and like the servos but I switched to hitec 65 with carbonite gears for the swash. The servos aren't as fast as the jr servos but with a 450 size heli you won't know the difference and I hve only rebuilt one of the hitec 65 through probably a dozen crashes.
