Crashed? Discussion and Photos > What's the most popular causes of crash?

Hi,

What's the most popular causes of crash? Let's hear it!

I have included 7 choices for this poll, but I know this might not cover all aspects..

e.g. A friend who claimed lost control of his helicopter in the midst of a roll while his mobile phone clipped on his belt rang. The signal of the mobile locked the controls for a split second leads to the crash, according to him. Radio glitches? Maybe act of god because the one who called was his wife who wanted to ask him to go home...

Anyway, if you feel there should be more poll choices let me know.

That's true but I think the question was worded

"Pilot control error"

Meaning other_than the pilot error you refer to.

Such as we have in software industry for error screen prompts.

System Fault: = User Error > Replace user, and try again.

I've found plenty of ways to crash, but none of them are popular with me!

Maybe he's trying to say "most common cause of crashed." rather using the word.. Popular.. Crashing ain't the most popular in any events.. IMHO..

What about the moron that is here trying to crash a couple Helicopters on purpose? That guy fits into a catagory all on his own. Now who is that guy anyway?

Most of the time something fails and the heli comes down. This is because the parts will ware out and there is no perfect part that last a set time and you change it.

There is a lot of stress on this part and the stress is different for each pilot because are flying stiles are different. Some more aggressive and some very gently.

Parts Failure has to be the most popular cause, Dumb Thumbs is the number one reason the craft plumments to the ground but it's parts failure that empties your wallet. If the parts were stronger they would not fail when they impact into the ground at high velocity.

Sometimes I get withdrawal symptons when I haven't visisted my LHS and then shortly after I get mental lock out, and hello boys 'I'm back'.

When I started 90% of my crashes were Pilot error, now 2 years later I'm probably at 50/50 failure/error. This is encouraging as I now spend less time rebuilding and have more time for preventative maintenance. So this is having a consequent impact on less failures....

Honestly...

One thing I admire about heli pilots is that when they dumb thumb and crash; they admit it. By comparison planes crash all the time but it's never because of pilot error...

Putting new blades on a heli seems to be a good way of ensuring a crash on the next flight. In fact, anything new, breakable and expensive added to a heli will increase its attraction for the ground.
