I most cases is not the lipo that needs to be put out, its everything else that has caught fire. Lipo's seem to burn up real fast. By the time you get there will these other types of ext. put out wood, plastic, fabric and rubber ect. fires? I would think so but....

Therein lies the problem, because the extinguishers are rated to extinguish fires of particular classes. Consequently a lipo on fire needs a "D" Class ext. but the surrounding materials that have possibly been ignited will probably not be extinguished by the D Powder.

So do you use a water extinguisher, on the carbon based materials, generally found in a workshop, that have been ignited and risk a reaction with the lipo on fire?

My main extinguisher is a Co2 and I have a couple of smaller dry powder ones on the walls. That will put out all of the items that could set fire in my workshop. I don't have any paper in my workshop so theres no chance of blowing burning bits around.
