I know this is a stupid question but how do you know the Baron is an EX? I'm curious for a number of reasons.

heres my reasoning, it may not be too sound

1) the parts diagram I got with it when I bought it used in 1992 showed an EX fairing

2) it has the beefy all metal rotor head that the other baron 60s I've seen dont have.


it was my first heli, I never touched it and the local expert who took 600 dollars from this 14 yr old kid at the time for it, crashed it in our driveway and left. hasnt been a "good luck" heli for me . put it back together around 1999 and I just didnt want to see it crash again, no parts for it anyways, I forgot about it.

I'm selling it as a parts bird only, I have lost the cone start in moving, so its more like 3/4s of a Baron Whateveritis 60, minus common hardware stuff.

guess I should put a price on it......

Hi r60fan

Vintage Kalts are seemingly tough to ID. Reason I asked was that I have a number of older (pre '90) Baron 60s and am trying to expand the range of Kalts in my little (HA!) collection. I may very well have an EX here already but because of poor documentation and similarities to other 60-sized machines I can't be sure.

The rotor heads Kalt used were considered an "option". You ordered a main mechanics set and then selected the optional (and extra cost) head. This made for some interesting mismatches between the two main components - High end head on a lowly frame set and vice-versa.

Could you do me a favor? Forward some clear pix of the head, control system and tail gearbox to the--trashcan@juno--com (replace the "--" with ".") and I'll see if your heli matches one of my heli's.

It's really too bad about Kalt's downfall. They were Japan's first R/C heli manufacture going all the way back to 1972. I have one of those first machines. It's a copy of a German heli of the same time period.
