e-E-Flite Blade CP mCX CX 400-3D > How to straighten a bent main shaft in a Blade CP.

I actually considered this method,
but I decided against trying to bend it in the heli,
because it seems to me you could damage your bearings.

And then you would have to buy bearings,
so why not just buy a new shaft.

I also have doubts about the hole in wood method,
it seems that you would need a hole in iron.

Maybe if you had 3 pieces of wood with holes in them,
one for each end and one for the middle where the bend is.

You could lock the ends in place and rotate the shaft until the middle piece moves up,
and then tap it down.

Just a thought,
I have 4 spares at the moment so I won't need to try this anytime soon.

There was a guy on ebay selling the Eisenhard Shaft Straightening Tool
which looked pretty good, But I haven't seen them since I have a
half dozen that need to be straightened...

I know,
I tried looking it up a few different places.

If I could find a schematic or something,
maybe I could build my own.

I've tried to straighten before,
with a hammer on a concrete floor.

Couldn't get it,
but it works for the tail boom (I just jam something inside it like a large dowel so I don't smash it).

I just bend it back with a pair of pliers with the head off while the shaft is still in the heli You really don't need a wisenhimer tool-- just a good eye Here's a flight after 6 mainshaft straightnings with pliers .

So you think the stress that you put on the frame (plastic in my case),
and bearings is negligible?

helirapter, Keep in mind I'm talkin about a 3mm shaft of a Blade CP pro--- not the 5 mm shaft of the King 2 , TREX 450 or Blade 400. Just my 2 cents.

Good call,
I am considering my Belt-cp shaft.

Though I am not sure of its thickness,
being a 450 I would assume its larger.

Yep, Your Belt cp and just about every 450 has a 5 mm mainshaft. Certainly harder to straighten and get perfectly straight.

Yeah,
I used to straighten my lama v4's main shaft all the time.

Even easier than the cp I'll bet.

YEP ! I found that the larger rotating disk mass was more prone to severe vibrations if the mainshaft wasn't perfectly straight. Much more pronounced than the Lil guys

Do you have a 450?

Because if we can find a solid way to straighten those shafts,
that would be a highly worthwhile thread.

If shafts were square we wouldn't have all the tortional slop in everything that slide up and down on them. And they might be easier to straighten.

..... or not.

When all else fails, there's still brute force and ignorance ...

That seems like a really good idea.

Maybe not square, but close to it like a pentagon.
