I was just looking through a gallery and saw this. Is it just me or does this seem a tad stupid. Perhaps a quick way to loss a finger or two.

Well at least he pulled his neck strap back! Yah that is pretty crazy! Just because it's T-rex doesn't make it any less dangerous!

Hehe, it seems to me that it's a good visual efect.
Did you ever see someone hold the Pisa tower?
Not sure, but the heli seems to be on the floor, near the wall.

Is there a life outside the sim?

I don't know if he's touching it but if the heli was on the floor, then the skids would touch the shadow of the skids but they don't. It's clearly in the air. Weather it's in the air to his right or in the air under his finger, that's up for debate.

I guess heli police will have a field day with this one. Dangerous? Sure it is. But he is a grown man and if he wants to play with knives, who's to stop him.

I read the original post with this photo in it..

it isn't a fake... this guy wanted to touch the head button while in flight... and he trusted his pilot.

And in the post with the photo, he exclaimed in bold lettering not to attempt this at home kids.

Its only an index finger, imagine the risk factor if it was his thumb!

some people feel the need to impress others. I'm not impressed, I can do that to, but I dont want to.... whats the point, just to prove that I can touch a spinning helicopter rotor? WOW! YOU'RE DANGEROUS! WOO HOO!

Its a tricky one to prove/disprove...
The picture was taken using a flash so the shaddow of both as you can see has been projected back to the wall.
The heli's shadow is on the wall to but low down in the Grey.

Its a tricky one, i'd go with true without looking any closer lol.

To be fair though, its not that silly, i used to fly a T-rex with a head speed of around 1,000, it barely flew but it was interesting heh.

But then again, he's probably running a reasonable head speed there :S

I think this could be a fake, the flash isn't at the same center as the picture, ad it also varies throughout the photo. I once saw a beginner catch his heli trex by the head when it started to fly towards him due to dumb thums. It had wooden blades and one snapped as it hit his hand, he instinctively put his hand out to protect himself. He was lucky not to brake any bones really.

my God...... CSI over here........ who really cares? Where was the north star located when the picture was taken? was it a full moon or new moon?
what was the season? had there been any volcanic activity in Hawaii at the time the picture was taken? was the guy touching the rotor jacked up on some RedBull? maybe he was sexually frustrated.

All risk is relative

You are right. It isn't a toy. That is why the equipment and this guy's flying ability are so good as to take all the risk out of the equation. Can you generalize this statement to all pilots and equipment - NO!
