| This sucks! I had some time to take up my Hawk SE this weekend, although this heli has not seen fuel in 6 months I went through everything the night before taking her up. checked every nut and bolt, every ball link and changed out the ones in question, Cycled the battery and got a good reading Nimh 2700, checked all wires and the RX, made sure the rx crystal was secure, I looked at everything to make sure it was airworthy. The first time up it was flying great after a little trim adjustment and on a low slow approach the tail pitch slider let go ( checked that also! ) only minor damage to the tail gears. I replaced those and rechecked everything again. I gave it a quick charge the off to fly it again. This time I was only 10 seconds in to the hover then it spazzzed out on me and crashed. What's going on here? I only had control of the throttle and partial elevator or it seemed like I did, anyway I was able to shut the engine off at the time of impact so I had control of the throttle at least. I took everything apart and cant find anything wrong, I even ran it without the main mast or tail to try to mimic a lockout or anything with no luck. What are the things I should be looking for that I haven’t mentioned? I can't stand it when you crash and you cant do anything but watch it go in by no fault of you’re own. Any help on this matter would be appreciated!
I am running a 2700 ma nimh, Hitec supreme rx on chnnel 35, hitec 605 servos, os 32 on a Hawk se. Thanks Jeff.
To better explain the "wigging out" it was about 2' off the ground in a side in hover when it jumped up and down a foot or so a few times in about a 1/2 a second along with pitching side to side and back and forth it all lasted about 5 seconds before it hit, it seemed like I had a little control over the elevator but I am not absolutely sure. the crystal is taped in the rx. What have you found on you're helis after similar event? |
