I use the Sonix 18A ESC. That is the ESC that Helidirect recommends for the HDX300 outrunner. It runs just slightly warmer than room temperature. Personally? I'd choose something around 20A. I do use 9A ESC's for my direct drive BL tails.

I use a Phoenix 10 with a power hungry Elf Hobby 4200kv on my Freestyle Belt Honeybee CP2. It runs hot in a hover but gets only warm in flyouts.

It really is sitting on the edge of its limits. I am using a 9T pinion because the esc shuts down on 10T. Things will be better if I can find a Park BEC. The shutdown is just due to an oveheating bec.

Note hovever that the Freestyle Belt CP2 is only 350g with an 11.1v 1000mah 12C lipo.

Turn on a dime. Flip like a quarter. Feel like a million bucks.
