Please don't get me wrong.. I think it's a great idea... especially if it's padded on the inside.... Then I could see myself purchasing one.. Even if the padding is like a quilt.. Anything to help protect those small carbon tail pushrods, etc... If you could do other colors as well, Then it would be that much better.

I have a small plastic case made for handguns that I use for my radio. My LHS even sells the same model (at a higher price I think). Just keep your eyes open for new ideas. It doesn't have to made for r/c helis to use it. My current flight box is a plastic tool box from KrapMart, it was only $20, is twice the size of the "real field box", has more room than I really need, and it even has wheels and handle to pull. It pays to shop around.

Copter Cover

I think it is a good idea. I don't care what it looks like, just as long as it works. Why spend hundreds or thosands of dollars on your model just to have something as simple as unseen dust or debris play havoc on your model. Just my 2 cents.

serves the purpose well . for funflys, contests or just to the local field it , it's good to have one if you can't make it back to the car in time when it starts to rain heavy .. blue plastic garbage bags works too ..

Dude! i fly my heli in light rain, dirt feilds, crab grass, assphalt ect. All I purchased was an air filter. no other wear has been made. I think you get more wear in your heli if you grag race it (neg pitch while on the ground) as for rolling around in the truck? maybe its happened once or twice. KSJ sells mounts that will solve that problem ($8.00)
Just think. most people crash their heli before parts wear out.

My 2 cents,

Ditto the garbage bag trick, less attractive means less susceptible to theft when in the back of a pickup truck. The bag stays in the truck.

Plus, if you are at the field, some clown can whack your heli with a mallet and you wouldn't notice the damage until well after the perp is long gone. In the field, I always keep my heli within sight all the time especially if I don't know everybody.

If the sun is baking it, I move it a bit to keep it in the pit's shadow.

Another reason never to trust a guy wearing makeup and a big round red ball on his nose. Always be suspicious of these characters at your field!

Imagine this......

Imagine having a wooden box that has a base with heli skid locks on the bottom and hindged to that is four sides. When the box is unlatched it lays flat on the ground.Placing the heli in the skid locks then one side at a time folding inward and latching forming a perfect padded box.I can't get into the design to much nor include a photo but it is perfect transport container especially for the plane.

Good idea

I think they are a great idea....the ones bashing it probably said the same thing about those "new fangdangled Heading Hold Gyros"

Why do you need one of those. When I started flying we didnt use gyros.....and we liked it. And we didnt use protective covers.....the helicopter got damaged and dirty and we liked it!

Quit squawking....if you dont like it dont get one.

Get em!!!

Obviously this topic is split. However, I am here to let you know. I have lost canopies and blades due to HEAT!!

Regardless of what you fly dirt and dust accumulating in bearrings, gears etc will eventually effect your ship. Covers are DEFINITELY a useful product. It's just a matter of whether the product is practically manufactured and priced. Some products have a tendency to experience "Overkill".

Sure you can be out at the field and throw a towel over ship after you get thru wiping it down.

It's all about persoanl preference. But after you lose blades and canopy to exposure after just a few hours it's a lil too late to start talking about a cover...

Trust me fellas.. Get a COVER of some sort!!!

covering your heli is like putting a cover on your 1985 Ford Escort

I put my TX in a case, and my heli isnt parked in the sun.

I like the idea of keeping dirt and dust out of the mech's and exterior
of the heli, for this a plastic sheet or bag, sunwise I also seek a bit of shade.
At home it's pretty dusty in my area and my helis get this even weekend
to weekend a noticable amount so I put a plastic sheet over them when
they are'nt going to be used for a while.
I've been to funfly's on windy day's and the dust from the parking lot and other airborn dirt really builds up so I usually at least put a towel around
the main mech's that won't flap in the wind too much.
I'm not sure if I'd go for the case, but I'm open to better/easier ways to
keep the heli clean/protected in storage and at the field.
When transporting my helis I'll place something to keep them from
tipping over or I'll put a piece of wood through the skids and my field bag on top of that.

copter cover

Hi

I think it's a good idea, maybe not for everyone but usefull.

I would also offer one that has a closed bottom and a zipper on top with handles so you can easily carry it around

ciao!

I look at it this way. I have never needed one to this point and I can't see what will change to need one in the future. However, if you like the looks of it, why not buy one. We blow plenty of money on these things anyway!

My motto is this..Fly...Rebuild...Fly
