simages Senior Heliman Location: NY USA
| It's unfortunate what happened to HeliKalle and applaud them for having the courage to post their mishap. Glad the fire Alarm batteries were GOOD and no one was hurt. There’s a message in that “it could happen to you or I”……..
I’m no different, but I never charge my batteries while in the aircraft……….. Don’t want to lose those you know!
I’ve never charged unattended, doesn’t mean I sit and watch them. I'm usually working on a project however; I no longer charge in the open, even in a firebox "I" won't charge unattented, but that me.
Everyone is responsible for their actions and as always “Safety” First!
September’s issue of AMA’s Model Aviation had this idea published under the Battery Clinic on pg 109. Nice inexpensive alternative which is readily available to most.
I substitute Pyrex Bowls so I can see under the hood as well as they are usually accepted as a firebox type container. I also leave my Lipos in the Pyrex when not in use (bowl - lid - bowl) gives me a 2 tier container. Better safe then sorry!
