I'm running a 6 volt battery pack with 9402s on every thing except my throttle, which is 3001. Will that battery pack hurt my severos, gyro, or anything else electrical ?

Depends on what gyro you are running. Many of the newer gyros and their counterpart digital servos require 4.8 v. The servos you mentioned are fine at 6V but will not last quite as long. You should run them on a regulator regardless.

I run 6V batteries in all my helicopters with a 5.1V regulator (effectively 4.8 v). It keeps the spikes out from a freshly charged pack and gives me redundancy with a 5th cell. Good 5.1 V regulators are available from Jacchio (don't ask me to remember their URL - but ask around). MAXX products sells a 6V regulator that keeps the voltage at 6V but again, that can be too much for many of the new digitals.

What are you running for tail servo with the 502? If it's a 9205, you still will have issues with full 6V as I've tested them and know. If it's 9251, 9553 those are digitals and you really SHOULD run them to get the full performance out of the 502 unless this is in a scaler and not to be 3D'ed.

You CAN get away with it and it will mean a strong, quick-ass heli but I would still recommend going to MAXX products and regulating the 5 cells down to a steady 6V. That way, when you start flying and the pack is showing 7.3 volts or so and later at the end of the day when it is down to 5.8 volts, you won't notice any difference and neither will your servos. With the regulator, it will always be 6V.

Ed call me

Ed,
I have several brand new in the package regulators. I even have two of the Oddino regulators with the built-in switch.

What do the Odino regulators regulate TO? I want one. Can one of your guys sell me an extra?

Didn't know that about the Maxx. I just tested them and always get the same readings so I assume it is fine.

I need it for my Fury - especially if it has a switch on it!!!!

Furyous, can you help? I'll send a check tomorrow.

Oddinos

I have two Oddinos regulators with the switch.
E-mail, if interested. They are brand new in package.

The GY 502 DC input is 3.8 to 6.0 V. You will be getting at least 6 V from an unregulated five cell pack.

6V

David H. do you think the Oddinos switch and reg would be okay with a 601/9251 on 6V. Thanks, Bobby

6.0 Volts

David I pull two Oddino's switches off the wall and both switches with reg. show no voltage drops to the receiver. The battery pask had 6.90 voltage at the batterys pack and at the end of the plug to the receiver it had 6.83 volts, Is there something I'm doing wrong. I talk to Radio South yesterday and there making switches with reg for 5.1 and 5.7. Bobby

Wow, that makes it different from any other VR I've ever used! I have always been able to plug batter, VR and meter in line and see the regulator work. I guess you could momentarily put it inline on the heli itself and it should register a solid, regulated voltage. That would be my prefered test bed I guess as long as it works and doesn't hurt my GY601.

Weird but I'm no electrician.
