Hey guys, I am interested in the Knight 3D but my concern is what you usually need to replace after a crash. What about does G-10 frames? Frame spacers, etc

Can you post your experience of what parts have you change in every crash?

My experince with stacked frame with my Hirobo GPH 50SE is that is some crashes the aluminum frame bend.........I know the Knight 3D is G-10 so I dont have experience with it.

Here are some pics of my GPH and you will see the Aluminum frame.

THX,

Isaac

You just need the usual spare parts like: Boom and boom supports, landing gear, shafts (main, spindle, tail shaft) and maybe the frame depending how bad the crash was

I had a boom strike and my Knight 3D fell from 50 or so feet up and the only damage parts were: Blades, blade grips, main bearings, canopy mounts (these are pretty soft), boom, belt, main shaft and spindle, and the flybar carrier. Since The heli fell head first so the whole frame survived without a scratch.

My buddy Gary seems to always break the bottom brace board. His frame also broke at the front where the radio equipment go. Seems to be the weak part of the whole heli but everything else on the frame is really solid.

One thing I notice was that G-10 seems to bend and crack easily and sometimes you over look it. They don't have the bend strenght like carbon. With Carbon frames can take more abuse in my opinion but once they break you can usually tell it's broken.

Must have more POWER!

The G-10 frames are actually really resilient in a crash. When I crashed 2 Sundays ago, I did have to replace both frames though. I had a boom strike while practicing piro flips at about 70 ft. up. The heli came down on the front left side and then the muffler. The impact from the muffler hitting the frames actually broke the left frame above the landing gear. By hitting on the front left, the frame also cracked just behind the front servos. Aside from this, it was just normal repair parts (boom, boom support, main shaft, spindle, main shaft bearings, landing gear, etc.) Considering that she fell from at least 70 ft., I think the damage was not that bad.

One of the good things is that the parts are very inexpensive. The parts actually cost less than Raptor parts and are about the same price as Trex 600 parts. They are widely available through several internet hobby shops too.

Gary,

Did the plastic canopy survive? I'm always amazed at how much abuse the plastic Raptor/Sceadu can take. Also, were you flying the stock skids or the new style Trex ones that alot of people are using?

The stock canopy took a severe beating and has been retired. I still had the new style Trex 600 landing gear that started the change.
