I was just wondering how many of you guys out there have a quick 60 machine and which model sport or pro. For you 30 guys why did yougo with a thirty when the replacement parts cost about the same?

I was new and wanted something that wasnt going to kill me learning to hover.... and the 30 is cheap to buy initially... either way.... both are nice machines.....

I went with the 30 because of the intial cost. I would love to have a 60 one of these days.

I learned on a Nexus thirty, after conquering forward flight I went to a 60 due to it's increase visual size and power. I was initially told by the guys at the flying field that a 60's response was slower and would allow more time for correction. I personally found this to be the opposite if anything. Thirties are cool but after flying a 60 I will never go back. One of the main things I like about the quick line is that "most" parts are fairly low priced which is one of the main attractions of the raptor series. Some other manufacturer replacemnt parts are way over priced. Another is that there is not much price difference between 30 and 60 replacement parts.

I am relatively new to the sport and have thoroughly enjoyed my .30 Trainer/OS.32 for learning to hover and forward flight. However I am already looking at moving up to the Quick .50. The .50 is a brand new model and has the advantage of a driven tail. Also I have heard rumors that this fall Quick is releasing a new version of the .60 and also coming out with a .90, both versions with driven tails.

quick 70 and 90

If you are looking for a great machine that will perform like a 60 the Quick 50 will do a great job. Quick will be coming out with a 70 not a 60 later in the year(I am sure you can use either engine). Also there will be a 90 too. There will be an electric version of the 15 as well.
I plan on getting a 90 for an FAI machine.

Quick30 Learner

I have a Quick30 Learner. I have 80 hours of flight time. It is a tough heli. I have give it a sound bounceing and trashing to the ground, and with no more than a $60 repairs. The heli flys solid. I did not start with the DS811 servos and I think you sould, they hold much better, and reset to center. It is very easy to fly and hovers great. I am going to get a new Sport50 for my next heli.

I've got a Quick 60, and put a OS .70 in it... it flies GREAT! I wanted a little more powerful of an engine since I'm at 5500ft in Denver.

The parts COST any way you cut it. But I think there is some truth to the point made of the parts being the same cost for 30 vs 60 -- I've noticed that too in the parts that I've ordered -- most say 30/60, and both are priced the same.

I just had a crash that was a $340 pocket draino. My (learned)recommendations would be to get the carbon kit, but also get their plastic replacement tail fins kit (I think it was $8.00 vs. $35 for carbon ones), and I'm currently looking around for a polyproplene canopy I can use for "playing and learning purposes". The glass ones are $65.00 every time you put one into the ground (not to mention whatever you've got into your paint job).

Any idea when HHI is going to release their 90 version?

da Blades!

After I just posted that I relized one big point on the 30 vs 60:

BLADES. the blades used for the 30 (talking about glass or carbon) are MUCH less than for 60s. The 60 needs the 680s (tried 700s & 710s and I think they need different gearing). HHI wants $79.99 for their Glass 680s, Heliproz has their Mavrikk Carbons 680s for the same price. (looks like HHI's glass blades are private labeled from Mavrikk by looking at the packaging -- both are great blades tho!).

I think 30s are more tolerant with wood blades, but with 60s, the imperfections with woods (unless you take the time to anally balance them) can just shake the poor thing to death! ...or at least put on a bunch of wear on everything in a hurry.

What's everyone elses view here?

30 vs. 60

I think the 30 is better for the "newbie" I love the way the 30 learner flys. The G-10 frame parts are very strong, and I do mean very strong. So the Sport 50, 60 or the 30 Learner are a very good value for the money. The metal is a big jump in cost, and the G-10 will take all the hard landings I have dished out and I have not broken a G-10 part. That was 80 hours of flight time and 4 crashes. Glass blades are better for flight and there are $30 a pair products that work well, much better than wood. I also think you should have DS811's and GY401/9253 servos. I think the best part about the 30 Learner, Sport 50 & 60 is all the metal parts, and very very few upgrades you need. They are in the kit when you buy this heli......great concept. I buy a new heli and don't have to spend money on bearings and other major parts. I do like that idea.
