Just wanted to start a thread for all the QWW fliers on their weekend flying experiences. The good, bad and the ugly. These are great flying helis and are worth talking about.

TOO MANY TOYS...

Nice post there Phil,

I will be flying the 26CC with the shaft drive. I also just was out in the back parking lot test MY SWEETIE 10 with a new Castle HV 45 we just programmed & 530MM blades...with a 12T we were hovering at 2175 with big power. I must say that Castle controllers have a great soft start program now....
I wish you guys could have seen how smooth this machine flies...

I have too many toys & I love it....

I am glad Dana finally got the 20CC going...i hope we can hear from him about some FFF over the weekend...Maybe some aerobatics as well....I will try to fit soem flight time on the 20 over the weekend...I am ready.

If any one want to come over to the farm please let me know...I will be in the store tommorrow...

have a nice weekend....

Not finished mine yet, and got to work tomorrow, so its unlikely.
The bummer is the weather on this side of the pond is absolutely cracking for the time of year

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that

some put props on and bench run in , but i already mounted mine in the heli. my last one didnt have a ringed piston , but how ever my new 46 does. on my last motor for first run ran sloppy rich and took it to hover about 1 foot off ground for about 10 min then after run oil and lt cool down 4, 1 hr and repeat, but slowly increasing rpm and extending time a minute each run.

Most "break in" their motors in the heli.... Your motor does not need to be "slobbering rich", just pretty rich during the first few tanks. I think it would be best to do a combination of hovering and FF during break in and you can skip the part about the after run oil at the end of the tank and waiting an hour. That will buy you nothing except wasting time.....

After the first three or so tanks, start leaning out the needle a little at a time until you sneak up on where you want to be.... I would say a couple of gallons of fuel should do the trick....

THAT IS THE OLD WAY

In my 21 years of flying heli's I never have & never will break in any engine other then on a HELI like Juan says in hover & FFF.
Today the engines are clean with out machining material in them like the old days....

Most nitro motor are broken in afters 4-5 tanks....gasoline maybe 2-3 gallons....electric....well you know where I am going on this one...

Beside running a prop on any motor going into a heli really is the wrong load factor....

Run it rich at first then lean it out.

This time of the year on nitro motors us a medium hot to medium plug...20/20 fuel is all you need...

HAppy flying....Irwin

Flew mine this weekend! No problems as usual. Flips and rolls are getting better. That 37L Pro is an awsome flier.

Where's that EASY button?

I also broke in my engine in the heli. Really drank the fuel at first, but has since leaned out nicely. Got about a gallon thru it so far. SWEEEEET!

Tried to do a little gasser flying on Sat. Wind was blowing at 20 plus mph. I ran into the infamous primer bulb empting on my G26 and the engine wanting to run rough. I've had this happen before and just cleaned the carb and all was fine. I'm debating on changing the carb, but going to try cleaning again. No flying on Sunday. Hopefully I will have it all sorted by next weekend. I had just put on 9252's on the ccpm and was really wanting to see what it was like to fly with these servos.

WHAT'S A LITTLE WIND

The 26CC can handle the wind..The question is can you...

We had the same wind here yesterday & I took out the Sweetie 10 with 530MM blades & it was a challange but builds your CONFIDENCE in your machine...

Oh, I wasn't worried about the wind. I was worried about my engine wanting to spit and kick the tail. The gasser handles the wind just fine. Like you said though, my confidence with the wind with a heli that just isn't running like I want, does knock down my confidence a bit.

This weekend supposed to be nice in my part of the country, so I'm going to see if I can keep from doing any dumb thumbing with the gasser. Anyone else?

Are your 30 & 46 mating...Maybe they might have an Sweetie 10?

we just finish testing a sweetie with HV 45...the other day I had a cut out on my own & was not happy....We tested everything...found out it was the UBEC..not one of our one we bought in the States...

Any case we put on a Eagle to check the AMP in Gov mode wit ha few collective climbout to see the max draw...

In hover we were at 18A & the climb out were drawing 28....No heat, smoke just a smooth flying machine ....We used a 12 tooth pinion & check the RPM at 1850 RPM...perfect for all around flying for starters.
I fly my sweetie with a 14 tooth at 2150...Jeep world has seen it fly in FFF .....

I never met a helicopter I didn't like...Irwin

Have fun this weekend

The Sweetie requires the HV-45....any thing less would be a potential cut off or too much heat...

It is nt only the amp draw it is the batteries the ESC can handle...
