Has anyone else noticed any play within the tail blade holders. The thrust bearing seem to be the cause. The instructions said to install the thurst bearings with the larger inner opening towards the center of the tail housing. That however cause a lot of play in both blade grips. Reversing the thrust bearings to where the smaller inner hole goes towards the center of the housing greatly decreases the play. Is the play normal?

Nothing abnormal was happening during flight but i don't fly hard yet.

yeah they all have that problem, i had two and both did it, and even in
hard flight, it never seemed to bother it...

Sceadu tail

Dear Max,

The play is normal due to the thrust bearing. Don't exchange the position of the thrust washer because it would greatly decrease the smoothness in tail pitch change.

I spend a few bucks more for a pair of 2500-061 4X9X4 bearing and a pack of 0402-596 SE tail blade grips. This would rid of the thrust bearings on the tail blade grips.

Hey dude, Uebori san says radial bearings wear out too fast on the Sceadu tail, hence the thrust bearing arrangement.

You might have the play in the tail on the bench, but when the heli spools up, the centrifugal force will pull them out hard enough that the thrust bearings will work perfect and hold your blades straight.
The main blades have some play too when they are sitting idle, this is completely normal, they only have to be rock solid in fight.........
