| Yesterday I met up with Richard Budd, who wrote the review of the Hurrican 50 for Rotorworld, and flew the very same machine!
Conditions were not ideal, warm but breezy, about 10-15 mph and gusting harder. When I arrived at the Bury Club, Richard's mate, Ian was wringing out a Hurrican and doing a GREAT job!
Looking at the machine, it has all the "bling", but in all the right places! Full alloy head, alloy tail gear box, alloy swash and washout...as I said all the RIGHT bits. The canopy comes pre painted and I can confirm that it looks good.
The heli is running the expected OS 50 Hyper and a Hatori muffler. A great combo that works well and is quiet. Fantastic climb out! Before I flew, Richard gave it a go with some smooth moves. Yesterday it was Ian who was was stick banging!
The tranny he handed over was a Spectrum....an added bonus! Yes it is lighter but after a minute it felt familiar. (I fly JR)
Given the conditions, I was more that impressed. It was stable and smooth. It felt more like my R90 than my previous R50.
I didn't do anything stupid on the flight, something to do with Richard's statement on the way to the flight line "You break it, you pay for the damage." Don't have a problem with that, but it focuses the mind!
Smooth and powerful, instant responses and my overall impression was of a fantastic machine. Definitely an excellent contender, and designed from day one to be up to the minute.
Time for an investment in my future!
