Well the only thing I have to say is as far as the Knight 50 3D goes it happens to be the best 50 size heli out there the design is like the Aurora which is still not available yet but if you know any thing about all the different heli desings out there the Aurora is to the point in design as these little machines Evolve

I've just switched from a very well setup Raptor 50 with Kasama head to a Knight 50 3D. Not had much flying time yet but here's what i can tell you.

The mechanics are very stiff and very quiet/low vibration. Found the head very easy to setup and getting +/-12 degrees with around 7.5 degrees cyclic. Very stable and precise in the hover. Not had much time to 3D this yet but found it comfortable after only 2 or 3 flights to try slow piro funnels, tic tocs, untidy chaos and fast inverted/normal flight. I do like this very much.
Setup:
Hyper (of course) with Hatori 522
Jr 8301's eCCPM.
Revlock 20/ Hitec 6975
SL720/8700G
5.3v Duralite
SAB 600 Mains/SAb 87mm Tails.

What to watch out for during build? Well didn't like the stock ball links and pushrods (just on the head)so changed these to Raptor version. Some have suggested boiling the fan for 1min as they can be a little brittle sometimes, maybe this was an early problem. The fan has to be drilled for magnets. I found the upper mainshaft collar slipped a couple of times so have substituted a Quick UK version (Rappy). Everything else is stock apart from Trex 600 3D u/carriage cos its looks better IMHO. Check that the jesus bolts are the shouldered type, if not then change.

Nice Auto unit on these with integral radial bearing above and below the one way bearing.

Sorry don't have any pics at the moment.

Been flying a Knight Pro (inc metal tail) now for a few months and apart from a little niggly problem with the starter shaft which is now fixed I've found it to be a perfect heli.

I too have replaced all of the links and pushrods for QuickUK stuff and thats the only upgrade I've done (thinking about changing the landing gear purely for the looks).
I'm not sure about the newer Knights (3D, Sport) but my knight came with a silver tail hub which according to Compass does have a chance of breaking during flight, they now make a stronger black one which I fitted not so long ago.

These helis are dead easy to work on due to their design but can be a bit of pain to clean though due to all of the little nooks and crannies! No more frames apart to get at main shaft bearings for example.

Parts are about as cheap as you can get for a 50 size but as far as I'm aware in the UK we can only get the bits from Skyline, it would be nice to be able to go to other model shops for spares.

Flying wise Knights really are up there with the best. They posses ultra stable hovering capability but then still retain that stability during manouveres. I cant speak from a 3D point of view as I only fly aerobatics but from various videos I've seen they will do the 3D book with ease!!
A good friend of mine put my Knight through some fairly hard aerobatics a couple of weeks ago and it just laughed at it.
He commented about how good the Knight was compared to his Titan which has the Kasama head.
Also the Knight compared to say a Raptor or Caliber 5 has more presence in the air, they do look the part tearing around the sky!

Overall they are an exceptional heli but there're not a Raptor which means that should you wish to sell it later on you will get next to nothing for it which is a shame. They need time now to become more popular.
You will not be dissapointed with the Knight but before you part with your hard earned really make sure it's what you want.

They have all the parts as far as i know, Fast Lad is also stocking these at a good price and should have spares too. Kessock Models also stock Knights at a good price but don't appear to sell the spares.

Forget a Raptor. I sold my fully blinged out Raptor 50 once I started flying my Knight 3D. There really is no comparison between them. The Knight 3D is light years ahead of Raptor in materials used and control layout. It also flies much better out of the box. To get a Raptor to fly as well as the Knight 3D, you need to do a bunch of upgrades.

Knight 3D

I have both the 3D and the sport and I am enjoying them very much. I now have about 4 gallons thru the 3D and it has not missed a beat. Like Gary said it costs almost twice as much money to get some of the other helis on the market to fly almost as good. The 3D in stock form performs great and has treated me just as good in the reliability department as the other 50's on the market. For a new product out I think compass has a winner on their hands with this one...

I had a Knight 50 pro... I know Have a Titan.

Having had both now and flown both the Knights are cheaper for a reason

mine could of been down to just bad experience but the Titan is the better machine for me. I just had enough of fiddling and mucking about replacing parts/failing parts.

My Knight 50 Airframe will go onto ebay at some point soon once its sorted out.

The Knight in the right hands is probably a good machine but those are not my hands.

I am back to enjoying the flying again which is the important thing for me.

Okay all the allen bolts/allen screws are monkey metal, sorry but there all soft metal and break or round off easily. Weak pushrods etc.

Compass could get better bolts/screws would be an improvement even if it wacked a 5 pounds on a kit it would of been wise.

Rudder servo mount - metal one failed cost me a set of BBTS boom... etc. Plastic one now fitted ready for the sale.

Starter shaft was an old style total replace meant of Clutch Hub all bearings and starter shaft... hardly any useage and had to replace the lot.

I didn't build it but some of the faults maybe from the build but I won't touch a Knight once mine is gone.

As I said its probably a good machine in the right hands but those hands are not mine we all prefer diffrent machines and I think the Titan is the better machine for me

Disc,

Not argueing with you, but although mine don't have too much time on them, I did build them (went thru the one I bought used), and have had none of the problems you discribe with the hardware, start shaft, or rods.

The only things I am not thrilled about are how tight the links are new, and the plastic canopy. However, a plastic canopy is a plastic canopy...not much you can do with it except replace it with a FG version, which I plan in the future when the new version comes out.

Disc,

I did change all of the pushrods and links on my Knight for QuickUK stuff, however a friend of mine gave his Knight a good thrashing for well over a year using the standard rods but with Rocket links and never once had a problem with the rods.
I changed the rods on mine mostly for the looks.

I know the bolts are not exactly the highest quality money can buy but I've not rounded one out yet, I do use proper Century hardened hex drivers mind you. Also I've certainly not broken a bolt yet, what bolts did you have break / round out on you?

Apart from a couple of little niggly problems my Knights been the best heli that I've owned so far.

SteveH - Were you able to use a ball link sizing tool to loosen up the links?

Dan,

Yes, the new Knight 3D comes with a resizing tool included. Some flyers have reported to me they do not resize the links, and after several flights they wear in nicely without resizing. So, I'm doing an experiment...I resized the links on my 3D, and did nothing to my Sport links. I will report back after I have enought flight time on them to determine IMHO which is best.
