John,

I am running a special made metal "Vibe" head block that is wider like the old Vigor head. With this head block I can run softer dampers for the hover and still get good aerobatic response.

Thanks Curtis

The whole time I have been under the impression that if Curtis and Scott can make the stock head work then so can I.

What you and Mark say makes a whole lot of sense and would explain why all the stock default machines just fly so well.

I am still none the wiser to what mixing arm setting to use. I have tried both but one is too cyclic responsive and the other is just too slow.
I think I have found something that might explain why you guys
have good "crisp" cyclic in airos. I noticed there are spacers in the inner swash on the Vibe where the Airskipper/venture does not.

Did the changes to the head based on Marks machine and used Curtis paddles and flybar setup as he described and all I can say is WOW! Hovering lock solid! initial impressions are very, very good.

I Have a few issues with the machine regarding setup that I need to work out and have decided to start another thread so I don't hijack this one too much.

Apologies

I have not been home yet. work has me snowed under at the moment. I would presume it is around 20mm wider (1cm each end) however will try to confirm as soon as I can.

by the way
to Mark & John
what do you do with delta offset when you use wider center block?
are you trying to keep near zero delta like original vibe's head?

Hi Alex

Use the longer vigor arm to get the ball as close to zero delta as possible.

Alex,

I've tried different deltas on the head and none seem to make much difference. Stick with the Zero delta as John said.

Cheers

I am currently trying your identical setup and have to admit it is the best In have tried so far.

One question though, Does your heli have a problem rotating on its mast? .ie it vier's off slightly in a piroet?

I did not have enough time today to determine in what exact manor. however think it could be a CG issue.

John M,

Hmm... maybe.. it gets to the point where you do have to fly the model a bit you realize?

I have quite a bit of nose weight in my machines.. and along with the tank up the front I guess it is a little nose heavy during hovering.

Cheers

to John M
Did you make accurate measurement of width of header block?
maybe sometime you have to visit your home...

Head Speed

I'm with MattJen on this one...

The Radix are so reactive to inputs which means they are equally reactive to gusts. I'd look at 1450RPM Head speed to hover. An unconventional solution that a few have claimed success with is to run a shorter blade...

good luck!

I will be swapping out the stock Vibe 90 rotorhead to a Venture 90 rotorhead.

What damper hardness should I use for the Venture 90 rotorhead?

There's 30, 40 and 45 available.

Of course, it's for FAI F3C flying.

Finally got it sorted out.

Note that you should get the Vigor CS centre hub instead.

I use the 45 hardness dampers.

Hovering RPM at 1650 and aerobatics RPM at 1850.

Other gears include the YS 91, hatori muffler and RT720SG FAI.

Very good hovering and excellent aerobatics.
Beats my previous FAI machines hands down.
