From their website...

Q: Why does AirThunder recommend balance connector charge, instead of lead charge?

A: The wires on the balance connector are connected to each individual cells and charges all cells simultaneously. As each cell receives the same voltage differential, they are charged more evenly, thus the name balance connector. Charging through the balance connector prolongs the life of the packet and give you the highest capacity on every charge. Charging through the wire gauge in conjunction with a balancer such as the Astro Blinky Balancer has the same effect

Ok, I got the battery in the mail today, only took 2 days to get here via priority mail. Packaging was great; very well protected for its rough ride through the postal system. I am sorry but I have no pics yet , my camera is out of town with my girlfreind it will be home tomorrow. The battery is a little bigger than a Thunder Power pack and a little heavier, but it does not throw off the balance on my Trex. The balancing port that is on it is the same kind that is found on the ElectriFly packs and the Venom packs, so adapters are plentiful to what ever balancer that you want to use. It will plug directly into the Equinox balancer from Great Planes. I however made an adapter myself, I just bought a 3 cell equinox lead from my LHS cut it and spliced it onto a Thunder Prower lead that I had so it will fit into my 210 balancer. I charged it up @ 1C with my 1010c charger and the balancer attached with no problems. The first flight of this pack will be tomorrow night along with some pics.

Stay Tuned... Thanks

You've just got to discharge it completely a couple of times. If it's really true that they can handle it, then it'll be revolutionary.

I bet if you open those packs it says "Kokam" on them.

Kokam cells have come along way (discharge with 1C to zero volts is possible).
However, discharge with high load to zero volt generates damaged cells, same thing would probably apply for these cells.

Kokam's new 30C is fireproof, even for over-charge!
I suspect that what we will see in the future on other brands as well.

That's pretty exciting news about the Kokam cells MrMel. Overdischarge resitance AND overcharge (no fire) is what we need. To hear that it is even possible is news to me.

It would be pretty difficult to get to 1V per cell in a heli - it would drop out of the sky before then.

You know how people say that when you buy a cheap lipo that you get what you pay for, well in this case they are WRONG!!! You get allot more. This lipo is amazing to say the least, the very first flight we put on this lipo we got 7 minutes and 50 second flight and ran it until the heli fell out of the sky draining it down to 10 volts. The temp was 87 deg F no puffing. So I put it on the charger and charged it up @ 1C with the balancer, an hour and 2100 Mah later (out of 2200) we had a JR factory pilot give it a whirl. Now keep in mind that we were indoors so couldn't get into the really hard 3D flying but still wasn't easy on it, we got a 9 minute flight! battery was 86 deg F and the end voltage was 9.4 volts people that witnessed this were flabbergasted and couldn't believe that we would fly it until the heli just didn't have enough power to fly anymore. I have video of both of these flights, my original eagle tree FDR died on me I ordered a new one on Tuesday night and it didn't show up yet, but as soon as my new one gets here I will have allot more detailed info. I am very amazed with this pack along with all the guys I fly with... Stay Tuned

Weight: 190 Grams (6.7OZ). I just went to TP and checked on my 2070 packs and they weigh 164 Grams. A bit heavier but if the battery has these charactoristics woot. No more worry about cooking an $80 battery. That is worth its weight in gold.

Yes it is a little bigger but it fits in the Trex perfect on the top tray and on the bottom tray been flown that way on two different helis, it still balances out perfect and flys the same.

And yes I ran this battery dead on the 2 flights that are on it so far. You dont have to, Im just doing it for these tests trying to beat this battery to see how much it will take, so far so good ...

i notice a big difference between my 3s prolites and 3s TPX 2070's. they have a similar weight difference as thesee air thunder packs and the tpx's. an ounce might not sound like a lot but its my opinion that it is! its really not difficult to keep from running normal packs down.
